Ive built the engines on a planes wings but it looks all right with mesh smooth but when i add the wing mesh smooth messes it up. Can i apply mesh smooth to only certain vertices?
The bit at the end of the wing that stiks up is meant to be right angle but it is curving.
Pic to explain:

yes, you can apply meshsmooth only to certain part, but this parts are polys, not vertices...
go to meshsmooth --> surface parameters --> Smoothing groups (mark it)
then go to editable poly --> poly --> Polygon Properties --> Smoothing groups. Now choose the polys and assign a number to it, choose anothers polys and so on
on the 3DTotal tutorial you will find a tutorial of a gun talking about it...

You could adjust your vertex's weights to keep that angle sharp, or you can add more cuts to make mesh smooth keep it a right angle.
