Hello everybody.
Here it is going my entrance.
The World's First Wireless Remote Control TV, in 1956 Zenith introduced the Bismarck Flash-Matic TV and the remote was the flashlight shaped like the raygun, Four photocells changed channels, on-off, and mute.
Software: 3d max 6
Modeling: 55 min.
texturing: 45 min.
Render: 30 sec.
Photoshop: 15 min.
All of the works are very creative and it is very pleasant to research on the themes.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say anybody who can use complicated programs like max, lightwave, cinema4d, maya, rhino, bryce, autocad, rtc etc etc.... I believe these people do have the ability to read and write, specifically, reading rules before posting submissions...Just a thought, maybe I'm wrong...

I think I know why you can never finish any other projects, it might have some to do with the amount of entries you submit per challenge - Excellent!
maybe if you break the rules your model is disqualified for that week - people might read better if they had to get it right first time?
Have to say there are some really cool models this week, it is going to be difficult to choose, good luck Andy!

very nice Segreto, I know this comp is based on models, not mapping, but me personally, I think clays are boring, you got a textured version for us?

Thanks, I love this forum, and I'm not going anywhere. I'll post tons (in digital weight) before I ever get tired of submitting here.
In week two, I submitted 13...I'm gonna beat that, but first I need to quit school, quit my job, give my daughter up for adoption and stop sleeping :)

Here's my first post to this site, hope you all like it. For this I used Carrara Studio and the plugin Anything Grooves. By using this plugin it meant that some texturing was necessary as part of the modelling process so does this count in the modelling time (in which case modelling time=45mins, texturing time=35mins) or in the texturing time (in which case modelling time=31mins, texturing time=49mins)?
Rendering time=9s
Shame about the white edge around the main texture and the shape is quite like the original, but I'm new to this and did choose the most complicated remote in the house, so give me some credit. :)

wow alot of nice models and I dont have one in yet
aaaaaaah!
I try making a model last night but I had a problem making the model smooth. I used a poly cube got the overall shape use booleum function to make the holes on the cube. then I try smothing it but the model got all wacky. I play around with the setting but I still couldn't get the model smooth.
any idea why this happend?
I I had to increase the poly cound on the cube but couldnt do that after the booleum was done. I think a have to start all over.
I dont know how some of you guys post so many model. I dont have school anymore and I dont have kids. I do have a job tho.
well I'll try again when I get home. I get out at 9:30pm est.

Most likely its a broblem with verts overlapping or that your lines are not planar. Knowing how your subdivision tool works is also important. But hard too tell witouh a pic.. :)

There are some really cool entries yet! By the way I really incredibly like the subject; this is really one in witch you have to put some cool modelling techniques! :)
Here my entry, it's a Remote Control made for Threedy / 3DT! :) :
- 3Ds Max 5.0
- VRay Free
- CorelDRAW 9.0 (for sketch textures & text add at finals)
- Photoshop 9.0 (minor grain added)
- Sketching : 30 minutes
- Modelling : 45 minutes
- Texturing : 4 houres
- Rendertimes are noted at the finals
First of all: click

...Its a fair point QuantumFoam, but also a common misinterpretation of the phrase ' remote control'. For something to be controlled remotley it doesn't need to be cable free, it just needs to be ontrolled from a distance i.e radio signals, infa red, cables....
I think that when you here 'remote control' your mind automatically thinks of t.v remotes, painting a picture of wireless devices....easy mistake, it was the first thing that came to my mind.:)

The Cassini spacecraft is more than 22 feet high and more than 13 feet wide, not including its deployed boom and antennas. With the Huygens probe, it weighs about 6 tons.
Primary Mission: Four-year tour to study Saturn, its rings, moons and magnetosphere
Launch: October 15, 1997 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida
Arrival at Saturn: July 1, 2004 (Eastern time)
Distance Traveled: 2.2 billion miles (3.5 billion km)
Huygens probe Titan descent: January 14, 2005
Cassini-Huygens Mission Status Report
08.23.04
The Cassini spacecraft successfully completed a 51-minute engine burn that will raise its next closest approach distance to Saturn by nearly 300,000 kilometers (186,000 miles). The manoeuvre was necessary to keep the spacecraft from passing through the rings and to put it on target for its first close encounter with Saturn's moon Titan on Oct. 26.
Engineers in Cassini Flight Operations are constantly busy-- regularly telling the spacecraft what to do, measuring its course and speed, making sure it's going where it's supposed to, as well as identifying and repairing any occasional glitches in the spacecraft or in the worldwide ground data system that keeps the spacecraft in touch with Earth.
Modelling: Rhino2 in 45Mins. Texturing: 3DSMAX3 in 2Hours. Lighting: 20Mins. Rendering: 30secs.

we are reaching the end of the 10th speed challenge.
1, The rules regading image posting have been the same throughout
2, The amendment allowing 2 posts per model has been in place for the last 4 weeks
3, We've spent most of the last few pages laughing at people who post their images incorrectly
Can anyone please explain why people like Mohammad can then enter their second model to the challenge and post FOUR 1100x900 images???????????????????????

Hello invert,
The brief states :
"How you interpret the brief is up to you" and as the subject is "Remote Control" rather than "a remote control" I think that my model of the Cassini probe is fine - seeing that it is being controlled from 2.2 billion miles away!
To be honest though I didn't want to model a remote for this challenge as I'm a Industrial Design graduate and hence believe that any user interface must be properly designed and researched - I didn't have time to mess around with clay, blue-foam, rapid prototyping etc. - I'm not really interested in copying someone else's design either - especially seeing that all the ones I've got lying around at home are pretty dull.
