Hi Hp!! haven't seen you in awhile! Nice picture, though. but there's not much to comment on atm... the proportions are fine. maybe work on the shading more. Overall its very good for a beginner's piece! paint some more ;)

well it's just a speedpaint, so i just block in the shading, most of the 30 minutes was spent chatting anyhow
i'm alive, just not really on msn, cuz there's no reason for me to use it now

you have the talent thats for sure, maybe you should just concentrate more. the painting is good and the proportions seem right so how come you can't get the jaw quite right in your 3d model???
only kidding.
really i think your work is improving all the time.

worked a tiny bit more before i gotta do my biology II hw
rubberduck: ppl on other forums keep telling me that it looks like someone else other than adrien brody who i thought it looked like
andoy: yes, well my face is not caucasian in the slightest bit, so i always have trouble, especially with "normal" profiles (mine is almost flat)
OH AND CAN ANYONE tell me if my computer settings are too light hehe...like...can you see the strands in the hair??? if it looks like he's going blue-grey-white, then tell me!! I keep adjusting the stupid thing for websites that are really dark!

well this isn't really a good painting, it's just a doodle of what i'm gonna model hopefully soon. it's a long story to explain...it's from a book called The Tombs of Atuan...and here she is looking through a spy hole at a mage who is trapped in a labyrinth underneath her
the sketch (yes it's crappy i know)

and an actual painting sketchy thing i did...like i said before i haven't painted much...and this is my first time with oils...
it was a guy, then a girl, then a guy...so now it's sort of a girly guy thing with unfinished shirt(i took the picture at a strange angle so the hair looks weird and has shadows...)

wait is that a good or a bad thing?!?! :( i know my painting skills aren't up to par
a fun sketchy thing i did off based on Ed Paschke who does all this weird line stuff, never finished it...know it looks cartoony but wth i like it anyhow :D it was my first piece with prismacolors (i just started art last yr) so the rendering is a little crappy especially on the paper

They learn by practicing and studying things around them. I think. I dunno I could be wrong........... :D
And Hp keep it up. and keep us updated
Observe objects and look at them as paintings. Then practice. Good stuff

hey, this is my art piece that i'm working on
it's supposed to be a mermaid, but her tail is another creature also and it's trying to eat the bait and hook...
i put feet on the tail...i just like it that way
the sketch was really quick, so of course please crit on anatomy but i will fix most of the main problems anyhow in the painting
just some basic colors...but i'm gonna be up all night and morning working on this (it's due tomorrow) so please do crit

I've redone the entire thing because I have no clue how printing works, and I've read that you should get it to 300 DPI. The painting was 20x24 inches which freezes my computer every 2 seconds while I paint, so now it's only 10x12.
Anyhow, I realized while posing in a mirror that you can't open your eyes and get your brows to do this dramatic pose (much less get the brows themselves to just do that)...but if I lower them and squint the eyes it doesn't achieve the effect I want, so I'm leaving it the way it is with the eyes large and the brows overdone. It's going to be cartoony anyhow.
I'm really awful at doing noses and eyelids, so any help with that would be nice. And underwater lighting, too.

just some fun work i did recently, it's not very good (especially the cardboard one with the girls) but hell i'm not a painter yet
this one is prolly the second or third thing i've done with oils, haven't finished yet and need to fix a lot of the features
it's an illustration for a book called the tombs of atuan by ursula k le guin...she's a very good author
edit: oh and the nose is supposed to be pretty long on the girl and the lips should stick out some...anyhow...

this was done pretty quickly on a piece of cardboard with some really cheap watered down acrylics, i never got the chance to put all the characters in
the colors are a little inaccurate for both these paintings from the poor lighting...i didn't really bother to fix it in ps yet too much tho

yet another thing i've started (woot woot for unfinished work), it was originally based on a photo of anna paquin as a very young child, so I have to change the features some I guess as that is a copyrighted photo (not that anyone remembers what she looks like when she was that age)...well i didn't trace it so it's quite off anyhow
therefore i took some reference pictures, which are hard to take by yourself you know...so it is not quite the same angle as it should be...anyhow i wanted the face to be caucasian and childlike....so i'll figure something out...oh and for anyone who has cable/satellite...the book series that these paintings are based on is being made into a miniseries, being played tomorrow! although they've changed the story completely...@$$holes...
