View Full Version : Charactere : Kalisto Model
15-09-2004, 02:15 AM
I find an incredible model, so I decide today to give it a try . I never model a character that wasnt my concept so its was interesting for me :) .
This one was hard, because I didnt find any front view drawing, just a side view so I just image it. Here where I am in the modeling. Any comment or suggestion are welcome.

Here for is amazing work (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/poulpor/sidhe.htm)
Yeah Ubi mtl! Relic seem a really good place to work.
Btw, the face is not finish yet , IT will need some tweaking. Maybe at the end I should tru Zbrush for detail, but I never used it.

lol I was going to ask you for the render....
15-09-2004, 04:19 PM
allways a pleasure too see your work ! Nice start .The ref head look like a real profile to me so maybe you could get the curve of the helmet a bit upper and higher and the redstone a bit elliptic(less round). It's a great work already keep it going that way !!!
PS:Could we get the site of kallisto's art and a wire ?
15-09-2004, 07:51 PM
chaos_seed : You re right, there is a couple of place where I need to polish, its really a pain, its more difficult that a monster or a face, you have to deal with organic and something more round like metal plate . arg!!!
look up for the site of Kalisto, but 3D total just post a link on the front page.
Humm where do they get the link??:o
15-09-2004, 09:24 PM

17-09-2004, 02:24 AM
After some animation work I did some modeling on the charactere.
17-09-2004, 02:28 AM
there's always got to be one person asking so I guess its me this time....
what method are you using to model that? Poly? nurbs?
17-09-2004, 02:54 AM
I always edit poly in max6 and and I start with a single plane , thats its! :)
17-09-2004, 03:45 AM
When you mean single plane. Do you shift drag the planes edge. Like the method used in the Joan of Arc tutorial.
I perfer to model that way as well.
17-09-2004, 07:34 AM
Always shift drag. That way, I feel Ive got more control on my mesh.
17-09-2004, 11:09 AM
wow i think it looks really awesome even for a wip. cant wwait to see the finished thing!
18-09-2004, 12:37 AM

beautiful modeling work Pikmin :) as always with your work.
are you modeling him only fot that pose? (no rigging?)
20-09-2004, 08:37 PM
ido: This one, I model him just for that pose. So didnt model the charactere in the stant pose.Ill try to finish the hand today.
21-09-2004, 05:07 PM
going on just perfectly !The neck isn't exactly as the drawing a bit more skinny with the hair really starting in the "coffin"whereas the ref on is larger and the hais are strating as a continutaion of the neck but i prefer it that way too !Nice work !
Still a bit of tweaking on the belly but it's really going to be a great model !
21-09-2004, 08:12 PM
Wow, coming very nicely so far. The only thing I would crit right now would be that the ridges of the abdominal muscles look too deep. Maybe relax the ridges a bit.
21-09-2004, 08:23 PM
Very nice work, thanks for sharing.
21-09-2004, 08:34 PM
Love it so far. The concept is sick is that off a magic card?
21-09-2004, 08:50 PM
Thx! Real critic! yeah!
chaos_seed : You came with detail , I didnt pay attetion. Thx. For hte belly, I think the renderer is for something, because it look good without
the_peel : Good point Ill try it! Thx
Its not from magic card, maybe a video game, Im not sure.
21-09-2004, 09:43 PM

25-09-2004, 07:56 AM

25-09-2004, 08:10 AM

25-09-2004, 10:28 AM
Everytime I tell others in my class that I prefer to model by using a single plane. I show them this thread.
On how much control you can achieve by this method. Keep up the great work.
