C&C would be REALLY helpful, btw, its also my first proper maya or mental ray project so yeah:D
Thanks for the help H20, and evryones work is amazing, keep it all up:D
Good job for a first submission junior.
Is it that the keys have been smashed? If so, I believe it would look best if you damaged the keys also, not just re-orient them. Good concept, do you have a render a little further away?

You know what? You guys are my motivation! Nothing makes me want to keep doing this more than people who appriciate what I create...Of course the appriciation is recripricated (translation: I feel the same way about your work).
You guys rock.

Thanks for the reply Orkron, the keys are being thrown up because the piano is goin all funny (thats what its supposed to be anyway) i did start to model the piano breaking but im not the fastest modeller (ironic, since im speedmodelling). SO i only managed to finish what u see in the pic. That also means there arent any renders farther away, coz i didnt finish the rest of the piano in time, it just didnt look good :o
Kinda ruined any mystique the picture had there:D
I'll probably submit something else before the deadline anyway.
P.s I did have motion blur to show the keys being thrown up, but it looked REALLY bad

I get what you mean, not bad either.

Finally, after numerous note making and measuring, modelling and trashing and starting again here's my finished piccy.
Modelling time: 60 mins
Texture time: 25 mins
Render time: 31 secs
Software used: Cinema 4D v8.5
That's it. It's been a long week.
I look forward to starting a new model all over again tomorrow.

Very nice Special-K, I like your attention to details.
Is there room for the keys to be pushed down (as in, played)?
I'd like to see a brighter, light tracer (max) render to bring out all those details.

This is my first ever publication (of my 3d-art)...
Please comment..

Hello,
This is what I got:
http://picserver.org/view_image.php/W9ICF94JK7U7/picserver.jpeg
Moddeling time: 30 minutes
Texture time: dont know
Program: 3ds max..
It's not finished, my idea was to make a Piano and a keyboard, the keyboard at the right..
Then, in the middle, a piano-chair (dont know how you suppose to call that thing).. So there is only 1 seed at the podium, so it is piano OR keyboard, and that's what the subject of this thread is..
But unlucky, cause of some family-bussiness I dont have the time to make something, so texturing is still ugly too ..

Hey all,
I've enjoyed watching for too long, time for me to post something and participate!
Time: 1 hour
Software: Sketchup (rendered with light tracer in Max to get the soft shadows)
I jumped into this one and got as far as I could with the time, I had hoped to get into the guts of the thing, but didn't make it, still lots of fun, great forum!

Hi, new here =)
this is my first project that I guess I can call complete. can't really seem to finish stuff ;_; anyway here it is
there's to many good ones out that I'm just doing this for fun and feedback.
total time modeling about an hour, probably a little more (was afk for a lot of time during modeling ;-; )
lighting about an hour (and not truly happy with it)
texture is just the shaders...nothing special

29-09-2004, 08:11 AM
mmm...I really doesn't like that...maybe i'll have to go a little bit deep into texturing and modelling...but this week I really can't do better...maybe the next :)
3dstudio6
60 min mod and some try on lighting (about 20 min)...for texture i've just used some raytrace materials

How can this be?! The time in GTM is 2 hours earlier than here; before at 2:00 here (Netherlands) the deadline was closed, now at 00:00?!? Isn't that?!
I've really worked hard to get that deadline; please don't tell me I can't entry :( :(
Whatever: here's my one... It's the Yamaha-piano I weekly play on at my pianolesson :)
- 3Ds Max 5.0
- Scanline Renderer
- CorelDRAW 9.0
- Modelling: full hour (> 60 minutes ;) )
- Texturing: 30 minutes
- Shader tweaking / Rendering setup: 40 minutes
- Rendering: 8 minutes

late results post - sorry guys
I'm on dial up connection tonight as our broadband is playing up so the posts are going to be pretty short.
again, the standard was pretty good although a lot spoiled what could have been superb models with "silly" mistakes. I'll run through the crits and all the honorable mentions tomorrow.
Big congratulations to all who entered, the runners up and winners look a lot like this
