View Full Version : Animating destroyed buildings
Hello guys, I'm new to the Forum and just had a question to ask. I wanted to know how to go about animating a building being destroyed or damaged using 3d Max? ALso are there any tutorials on this topic as well. Thank you.

Why not make your mesh
Break it up into sections for the large rubble
Then use 'havok' to do the dynamics bit
After that put some particle dist and rubble etc in
Also most importantly as always get some good referance:)

Hi Ptah,
You can do this with a Particle system PArray. For a small tutorial look at: http://www.maxhelp.com/content/tutorials/parray/parray.htm
However, the latest versions of Max also have a new function which is called PBomb (or something, I stumbled over it a while ago), you can also use this, this acts like a bomb somewhere in your scene and the chunks of the explosion automatically fly away from the explosion.
I think in this tutorial this function is being used: http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/tutorials/max/specialeffectsexplosion2/specialeffectsexplosion2.asp
