since this past few days (with all the "wrong" threads and stuff...which mostly were moderated correctly) I think mods are taking things a bit to serious.

Even a fun (good running) thread with no harm to anyone or anything is getting closed and deleted.

Is threedy becoming dull?
Overmoderated?
A place where people will be scared to start a new thread because it may have a subject one of the mods doesn't like?
A too serious place where fun is out of the question?

the forum is for the members...and if the members don't fight with eachother but just have fun together...i don't see any point in closing a thread. That's just silly!
If we can't even have fun with eachother this place will turn out to be a boring forum.
I completely understand the mods trying to make this a good place, but this is just not the way IMO.
it's off-topic....so almost anything fits(except for the guidelines as race, religion, political stuff)! And I think that's this is just a way to create anger or disrespect for the mods.

why not making a thread where you have to ask if your idea of a thread is being accepted?
or why not close this whole forum instead?

and pelase...don't close this thread immediately, so you can get some responses from other members to.
Maybe you'll see that this is just being an ass (sorry, not to be taken too serious)

This thread has been moved to a more suitable forum, feel free to discuss amongst yourselves about what you think about be done/changed/modified in the offtopic forum.

But a friendly warning, any attack or malicious comments towards any of the moderators will result in this thread being closed.

Thanks,
Dan

is saying partypooper to someone an attack?
(even when this was the right word to use at that time)

then why is the "you cvan stop acting cool when...." thread closed/ deleted?

and btw...I don;t think many people visit this part of the forum...so we will not get many replies.

and banning sabaman for saying things that are just true but won't be accepted by chris is not helping to do the forum any good!

sure EF_studios thread was a flood of useless and progressively more obscene posts. it probably did deserve to be closed, but it gave me an idea: how about none of the posts in the Off-Topic forum count towards a members post count?

Holy crap Olympus, thats.. BRILLIANT, man if the mods don't do this, i will cry, alot.

Man, I can't belive no one has thought about that, or posted it, wow.

what in the world has your postcount to do with this?
who cares if you have 34873763 posts or just 2?

and something else...i think jokes can be a bit obscene as long as it's funny...we don't post things like that to point fingers at anyone...just to have a laugh.

On behalf of the moderators and the members of threedy forums Sabaman and Ef_studios were banned for 7 days each.

They can send an informal request for this ban to be lifted on Sunday, October 24th. This is done following a suggestion made by the members to ban for certain periods of time instead of permanent bans.
Neither of them is expected to beg for the ban to be lifted, as I said an informal email will do.

As for the reasons:
Sabaman was banned because he continued to open threads for the sole reason of taking a a stab at the forum moderation.

EF_Studios was banned for the same reason. Plus openly opposing a moderator decision instead of taking it to email or PM like he should. (He did send PM's, but he did not stop acting up on the forums)

7 days off will hopefully give them some time to think about it and to cool down. Afterwards they can return without having to expect any reproach.

Olympus, it's a nice idea thanks for the suggestion. I'm afraid though it can't be done. Sorry. :o

I feel however that not the symptom should be adressed but the source of the problem.

There are enough free open chat rooms on the intert, which can be used for the sort of conversation sabaman and ef_studios were having without flooding forums, wasting bandwith and webspace or in ither words money.

Weren't you a pretty big spammer to begin with? I mean, not that I have anything against that, actually, i didn't really care. But then you became this crusader for more moderation all of a sudden. I just find it a little hypocritical, thats all. I'm sure that you don't agree with me, but more moderation is not the answer in my opinion. Fun threads that are only for laughs should be ok.

We are all for fun threads, believe me, and sabaman and ef_studios were not initially banned for starting one thread that they found funny.

Off-topic is not a chatroom, it is not the idea of this or any other forum to chat in it, we've got messengers and chat rooms for this purpose online. They are free and easy to use.
45 posts in 60 minutes of which most (80%, I should estimate) were made by sabaman and ef_studios alternatingly. I don't think I have to explain how this is flooding. Some of these posts actually had offending content, that adds to the matter. The thread was closed and removed, mater solved - so i thought.
The two however decided to open more threads trying to take a stab at the moderation in general and at me in person. This is what they were punished for. 7 days is not too little, in our eyes, and had it not been for the member suggestion of periodical bans it would be permanent ones.

[r3D], you had your part in that supposingly fun thread as well, don't scream all that loud.

il_paulio, Clawda was permanently banned for his attitude towards the members and moderators. He made many good points but the way he got them across was intolerable.

Those of you who think that they can do whatever they like in off topic and will get away with it should be warned, we are taking our jobs serious. Know however that it is no fun for us having to deal with such crap.

I'm all for the new moderation, some of the threads in off topic seemed (to me) to be down right insulting, but the posters tried hiding it behind 'facts'

I'm also not saying that I'm a poster boy of the right types of posts either, I'm sure I've made a mod roll their eyes too :)

All in all, thanks Mods, for making this place a bit more professional.

Clawda's ban was lifted, but no access to off topic will be granted for him until further notice,

Corth, thanks for the support. :)

Yeah i was man :o but monte gave me a second chance, he asbiclyl said if i don't chnage my ways, I am banned, and O changed my ways.

I know it was pretty fast as well, and secret, but thats what happened, I was almost banned and I didn't want to get banned, so I listened, and now here I am , about 2 months later still here.

Ha ha, but I can see why thats hypocritical, ssry man, hopfulyl now you know the reason :)

I don't know guys, to use the threedy forums for something other than art, discussion and critiques is simply abuse of the hard work the great people at 3d total have done. They have provided something everybody can use, and to degrade that with insulting remarks is frankly immature and uncalled for. My personal opinion is that anyone who abuses these threads should be warned and if need be, banned permanently.

looks like your slipping back to old ways jason , from the look of some of your posts ....

Im glad the mods are taking bigger action , people should have been banned lots of times. the past few months.

Also im very happy with the standard of artwork in the last couple of weeks. it's getting higher again :D

Thank you to all of those who support us and our hard work, to keep the standard of threedy high.

And for those who disagree with what we are doing, I say this:

I personally do this as a labor of love. I don't get paid, I don't get free texture CD's, Its not something that I can brag to friends about ("geeek geeek, I am a moderator of a very large 3d forum, snort snort" they look, laugh, and call me a geek :D )
I don't do it to Ban people, or dictate what goes on.
I do this simply because I want to give to a great forum. This place provides so much knowledge! And knowledge is the most powerful tool on earth! It comes from the owner, admins, moderators, and all the members. We have almost 12,000 members, that to me is something very powerful in it self. It means that threedy has provided a FREE service to 12,000 people (even if they only visited once), and I am lucky enough to now assist in that service. I gives me great joy.

There is only one thing that makes me mad on the forums, thus causing a negative reaction.. and that is: Disrespecting the forum, and all that it is composed of. Meaning the members, mods, admins, the owner, and the work on the site. I will never tolerate any of the such, and I know none of the other 3dtotal staff will either.

I am all for fun, and every one needs to be silly at times, I know I do. But as Chris said, this is not really the place for all the fun that we require. You can make friends on the boards and then meet up with them in a chat room, or downups ICQ, or a messaging program (I know almost every one here has one, and if not they are sooo easy to use and install)

That said, people keep it clean and professional, don't disrespect the forum, and its people. If you do this, you will never have a problem, it is that simple. If you are not sure if you should post something in off topic PM/email me, I will respond ASAP and let you know if it is OK to post. I will never hold it against some one to ask a question, in fact I respect that, it is a sign of intelligence!

Keep up the good work people, things really have been improving, especially the off topic. :)

like, will I be banned from OT forever? let's face it, you mods know it, I know it, we all know off topic was filled with idiots who posted even more idiotic posts, I reacted and whoopie, it got clean again, if anyone wants to believe banning me was the solution, dig a little deeper and you will see what I said made the real difference, not the way too late ban from chris.

And btw chris, I haven't said a bad thing to anyone in about 2 months now, can you please grant me access to OT, I can still view it just have to clean cookies, kinda stupid even though I can't reply

Chris-3DT

If all OT was filled with idiots, I don't see why we should let one of them back in right now :p

We'll consider allowing you access.
