I feel that this forum could seriosuly benifit from a texturing section for lowpoly models where we could share techniques and brushes ect along with tips on how to texture low poly models. It would supply a great source of information where the intire comunity is lacking. If you feel the same post here and moderators and staff of 3d total please take this into consideration.

Thank alot

Sincerly, Joshua Ceccotti

I second that.
Mostly because textures is proberly the area I personaly need to learn a lot more about and is the area I can improve on most. Alothough isnt texturing mostly just digital painting? 3D-Total does already have a lot of "how to" tuts on this. I can say that a texturing forum will proberly be better because "textureing and uv mapping as a whole" will benefit more people more, instead of just low-poly.

I agree 100%, because most people have trouble textuing, and learning some good tips and tricks would really help, I certinaly need help in texturing, so yeah bring on the new section of forum!

Thanks for the suggestion Ceccotti. We apreciate it alot :)

Question I have, if we've got a sub-forum for low poly, all low poly related questions can be asked there, I think. Why do we need another subforum for lowpoly texturing?

I agree with Chris. Threedy already has a game art related subforum (which sadly is ignored by most of the users) and as you can see in the forun description it says : "Covering all aspects of realtime & low poly art design and creation". So why don't post there low poly textures related threads?

I agree 100%, because most people have trouble textuing

That's true. Low poly texturing is really hard and there isn't many tutorials on the web. I tryed sometime ago to create a game art texturing workshop but no one got interested ( here (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21379) is the thread). :(

There's loads of tutorials kicking around on the web, but as with finding anything it's a case of hunting down the good ones. I've got a load of links kicking about at home, so I'll try to remember to zip them up from my favourites and post them here.

I understand your view point but I still think the two should be seperatated. Under a head like Realtime lowpoly then modeling then texturing.

Thanks again.

The way I see it, if there's a separate skinning forum, people can post their questions there, or they might also post their unwrapped model and ask for someone to skin it.

Whatever brings us more finished models is the better.

Yeah that kinda sucks, I love looking at the progress of low poly models from our low poly modeliers here, HA HA, and I am one of them, I just love it. SO i try to show my support for it, but I guess most of thready users are eitehr like super pro high poly, or 2d artist's, or photographers, which is awsome as well.

I still am leaning towards another little sub forum for help texturing, I just think it would help a great deal, because like said before, MANY people lack in the texturing department, I think if we get everyone together, we can help each other, and learn as we go.

Thats my opinion :)

Maybe a monthly game art competiton would boost this sub-forum, and at the same time help a lot of people. It could have just a small prize ( a cd, a book or something like that), or even no prize.

Vitor sounds cool. But could we get a final word on this new section, I myself and some members here would really like to see this happen so could we at least try it. Thanks alot again and sorry if it seems like im acting a little to pushy on the subject I just think it would greatly help the community where it needs it.

Personally I don't think that a subforum for textures would be useful, the realtime art forum is already not as popular as the rest . I can only imagine what one for textures would be like... tumbleweeds blowing around ;). But if you are seeking low poly texture tutorials, there are tons on the net, including 3D total. You just have to look.

Im sorry but I am seriously dissapointed. It is not as if it could cause anyharm if you tried it out. But none the less you guys are the boss so I respect your decision.

I think we can give it a shot. I'll set it up as a sub forum to lowpoly and let it run for a month, see how it goes.

Don't expect too much from it.

I think we should create a gaming modeling contest each month, your prize is knowing that you came out on top for that month, and maybe every year we have a big one, which you win a cd or somthing.

I would really enjoy that alot, i don't know if i would enter everyone, but i woudl try :)

Hey I think this is a great idea. I'm just getting started in texturing and need all the help I can get since I'm learning all by myself.

Making a contest every month would be cool! I think for the prize they should just make a list with the winner each month. I think it would be enough with people seeing how good you are, and by seeing your own name on the list. So where is the thread y'all talk about so much?

That's what I said :P I agree with Neto about the prize.
