renderers???

hello hello, brand new here, I'm Jonny, i'm at huddersfield uni, and i do some 3d work in 3ds max. Here because i need help !!!! lol



anyways, we were talking to a guy the other day, and we were looking at this website and deviantart.com at 3d images, and he was going "ooooh! i wonder what that's rendered in???"



right, i model and render in 3dsmax 5.1, and wondered what he was on about with the renderer business????

Rendering is the process of converting 3d objects into a 2 dimensional image or animation.
Max comes with the default scanline renderer.Until you get to Max version 6 which has mental ray render included.
There are many 3rd party renderers out there.The most popular being Brazil and V-ray....but there are others also...
Check out Splutterfish for Brazil and chaos group for vray..each has a free version to try out.When they are installed just go to your render tab and go to current renderers tab and choose what you installed.
