Hi,

I have just started using Max 7 after having used 4 for a couple of years. I have this scene with a Gizmo with volume fog in it.

It seemed to render fine in 4 but in 7 I am getting this weird effect where it kinda looks like a mushroom explosion happening as the camera gets closer.

Has anybody come across this before?
How do I make it stop?

I have attached a pic of what it looks like.

It's just a wild guess, but it looks like something I had on hand in AutoCAD once...

What form does your gizmo have? If it's a sphere, the problem could have something to do with clipping planes. I really don't know if they have such a feature in Max, but it might be worth giving it a try...

Thanks for the reply.

I have actually tried both a box gizmo and a sphere gizmo.

I tried the box first but the sphere had exactly the same effect.

i agree 100% wit joey, clipping planes:
they are in the camera controls (im assuming youve rendered through a camera not a viewport), check in your camera settings, there is something called environment limits, fiddle with these numbers.
