View Full Version : Low poly texturing - Important - stressin'!
Hey i'm not very good with words, and all the tutorials I find contain so much text and I always get very lost. I wish to find some tutorails clearly explained for people like myself. All my work has been going to waste because I can't skin it please help me, if not I don't know what to do.
I need tutorails for texturing and maybe setting out my UV maps.
Cheers in advance.

Cool. Im interested. If you don't have a link you can send it to my Gmail account: timyangnz@gmail.com thank you
Don't despair man, hang in there ;)
I'm trying to learn this right now too, because I would much prefer to be able to 100% scratch create all the elements of a given model. So it's lots of tracking down painting tuts for me so far, and I know yeah, a lot of them are either very wordy, or just not that clear about things.
I'll try and remember to drop back here and edit in any decent finds, meanwhile is this the sortof thing you're needing?
Building up a texture surface with paint tools (http://www.cham-ministry.org/msts/tutorial1.html)
Be back, hopefully ;)
Yeh cheers, I would like anything that helps me texture my low poly characters and such, like totally painting all my own textures. Atm im trying to learn creases, I want to get that down before i move on. Heres my first creases try in photoshop without using tutorials(pretty crap).
I'm not so sure man, I think you just need to refine, imo you do have the basics down. Like I'm seeing some areas in the troughs of the creases, the deeper bits, where just a little darker shadow would start to create the effect you're after. Definitely you're on the way. Try this, it probably sounds over the top but it worked when I was a nipper and painted models and etc; Take a hoody or shirt or whatever you have that is textile with a good surface area, and lay it out sortof half bunched up. Now take a really objective look at somewhere that A. there is a fold upwards /\ and B. where it folds in \/, by comparing the differences between those situations, you can get a quick crash course in why a crease looks creased, as it were. It helped me nail down a couple things so far.
And I'll keep hunting ;)
:xyz:
Well i have been studying creases in clothing and stuff, but I just cannot mimic creases with a pencil or with photoshop, I think im 2d retarted.
Cmon more tutorials are needed badly, atm im skinning a head, so tutorials for faces and hair would help.
Cheers
