Does anyone know if Max can produce an occlusion render pass for ambient light?
I know Renderman can do it....but can Max scanline or Brazil or Vray?

Yes it can from version 5.0 and up. Although it is not a render element option.

You can use all white materials and a white skylight with light tracer.

Metal ray can do it the same way as above, or in Max 7 there is a shader for ambient occlusion.

you can use brazil which has an alternate material (which is nice) and skylight.

You can use Vray which also has an alternate material and skylight.

Hi Seraph

Thanks for your reply to me.
In Brazil is there a specific material[custom material] to be used?
Advanced....utility.....or any brazil standard material will work for this?

thanks again

In the "render pass controls" rollout at the top there is an option to use alternate materials. Use "white plaster."
