edit vertex

hey all im trying to edit move a couple of vertex in gmax...had same prob with 3dmax...ok i can move a selected vertex but i can get it to move in spot i want it at...anyone have tips on how to move these things around

You should only move a vertex (or anything else) in one or two directions at one time, trying to move something in all directions always lead to strange results.
Use the diffrent side (and top/bottom) views to get things exactly were you want them.
I would not recomend to click-drag things. It's easyer to select an objekt first and then use the mainpulator/gizmo to move things. If it's not there press 'x' (3ds Max).

yes that help alot...at first i didnt see the x y z thing to move it in one direction so i wanted to move it on x and didnt even see the letters and was moveing on z ya know...now i know their there...thank you for the reply
