can someone help me?

hey all im haveing little trouble...im following a tut for 3dmax5 on how to make chair...tho i have 3dmax 7 i cant figure out how to make mine look just like his...notice his chair legs are smooth mine are not can someone tell me what im doing wrong?

Looks fine to me superwoman.
I wouldn`t worry about the viewport image quality.He probably has a better video card installed.
If you do a render it will be fine.
It looks great btw:)

wow thankyou...cool happy to hear just my bad card as it only a gforce 2 32 meg...i thought i just missed something in the tut didnt hit a button or something...just brought big smile to my face only been working with this program for 3 days have never messed with nothing like b4..nice to hear its looking good

one more thing..i dont know how to render...can you lead me too somewhere that can tell me how to render?

no problem ...yeah the shaded viewport quality dosen`t matter to the final rendered image...there 2 seperate things.

ha ha that`s too strange....I was gonna ask if you knew where the render button was...but I thoiught that might be a little to silly to ask:)
You can hit the render tab on the top tool bar or hit the quick render button top right

thank you...i dont know if im doing too big of project but i hope to make this chair then do animation with it...by makeing it roll across the floor and then i was gonna take someone's model of human and have the human sit in the chair so when he does the chir moves across the floor then i was gonna add a ball so when the human sits in the chair he kinda tosses the ball across the room and the ball bouces acouple times...and once i get this done i will add sound and thats it for first goal...am i on right track?

sounds ambitious for a first project.
When learning animation your 30 days might run out before your done.
For now I`de model the chair and do a camera track around it.That will get you started in modelling and animation.
