'lo everybody,

this is the first time i've posted here but just had to leave a message because I'm all fired up!

this is about giving original artists credit if you use their charactors for your 3d models. yes, you did all the work in the picture! yes, you were responsible for all the modeling, texturing, lighting, etc. but especially if you are submiting a charactor, the charactor design is going to be assumed unless you state otherwise or it's an established charactor like a hellboy...

specifically the post that upset me is the new "goblin" by jiri adamec. great work! not his charactor and no credit is given! the original work is by miles teves, a rather well known hollywood illustrator, conceptual designer, make-up artist, and sculptor. check out http://www.milesteves.com/sculpture.php under demon-vampire. it's been there for a couple years.

I've even seen published books on modeling in which the artist has used a brian froud design and just says something like "look at this nice little goblin 'I' did."

all i'm saying guys is, credit where credit is due.

thanks. coming off the soap box.
