You must be communist.

I'm an American, but I'm Socialist. Socialism is about the same as Communism (I'm being VEERRRY general here), except instead of being government led, it's led by the people (like a democracy). In fact, America has TONS of communist-type things. We just explain it away as something else. But the bottom line is that taking taxes and distributing it to the population is the only way a country can survive. The key difference between America and elsewhere is that the people here aren't slaves to the government (again arguable).

Not offended. But stereotypes are supposed to be based on the truth behind a demographic. I don't know any Americans that think like that map suggests.

And on the other note, Hitler wasn't a socialist. He was a dictator, just like Saddam Hussein. And yes, that is a crime against humanity...I agree. True socialism doesn't separate people into classes...getting rid of classes is the whole point of it. Many leaders are supported under the guise of socialism, though (Obama). That doesn't mean they don't have their own agendas.

That means that (German) economy was driven by socialism, and foreign policy was nationalist (fascist).
In fact, he succeeded to bring back Germany from terrifying economic crisis, where people were starving every day to a country that was so strong that could conquer the Europe. The foreign policy was (very) bad, and cost millions peoples life, and that is something nobody should ever forget.

I don't treat animals like people. I make no apologies for that. I would have to see an example of "cruelty" to say if I agree that it's "cruel". I don't think animals should all be killed with lethal injections, though. If you want to club 'em, club 'em (I've had to do this in a survival situation). As long as you aren't purposely making them suffer, you're probably okay.

I keep a BB gun around to shoot animals that come on my property. We live in the country, and there are lots of (aggressive) dogs that wander about getting into trouble (killing animals, etc). I don't have a real gun because I have a hard time killing animals, but I do shoot them when they come on property with a BB or pellet because I have two small children. If they run off, get an infection and die, is that cruelty? Or is it kindness that I chose to give them a chance at survival rather than killing them on sight?

Why should I have to spend $10,000 fencing in my land (and that's if I do the work myself)? Shouldn't the people who own the dogs be responsible for their pet's actions?

I should also add that it is 100% legal to shoot and kill a dog that is harassing an animal (or person) on your property in my state. In fact, not only can you shoot them on your property, but you can immediately pursue them and kill them anywhere they go, as long as they aren't recontained on their owner's property.

My biggest problem is with people who hunt deer for sport (it's VERY popular here). I don't think it's wrong, I just think that it's ridiculous to say that it's okay to kill a deer for fun, hang them from a tree, rip out their guts, drain their blood, etc. But, if a ten-year old boy does that to a cat or dog, their considered "disturbed". Both groups are doing it for fun, right? So what's the difference. Treat them the same, I say. If doing that to a cat or dog is wrong, then so is doing it to a deer. People argue to me that they do it to eat the deer, but I argue back that they don't rely on their killing to survive, and that the photos they take of themselves hovered above their kill--and the antlers and heads they mount on their walls--prove it's done for sport.

Personally, I think such an act does more to desensitize children than playing video games ever could.

And letting the parents decide is exactly the problem. Parents (in my experience) don't let their kids decide anything ever. Kids are forced/expected to believe exactly as the parents tell them to believe. I was raised in an Assembly of God Church. I spent 28 years of my life there. This is what I saw 100% of the time. I finally left the church when someone told my son that "we don't run in God's house". Don't get me wrong, my kids aren't allowed to run indoors anywhere, unless it's a gymnasium. My problem with that statement was that I could see the brainwashing beginning. They were teaching my kids that their building was special, while at the same time teaching them that the death of Jesus removed the separation of the house of God from the world. It's just insane.

Anyway, I think we're getting off-topic in the only thread in which it should be impossible to get off-topic.
