View Full Version : help with meshsmooth on car modeling

im modeling a car for a prject at uni and i want to keep some of the shapes in mesh smooth,i have already tried chamfering the edge but when i do that the whole shape goes crazy,all over the place,i would post some pics but im not sure how too

you have to mess with the chamfering settings. select edge, then select all the edges you want to chamfer. Instead of clicking the chamfer button click the little box next to chamfer, this will allow you to set the strength of the chamfer. For car edges I recommend something like 0.1 to 0.3.

I'm the same as you, trying to model a car as a first model for university, what degree are you on?

digital animation at hertfordshire university,thanks for your help but its still going crazy when i chamfer,i dont understand it,i might just start from scratch again because something is not right,i have done testers with the chamfering tool and thats fine but on the car its just not happeing,anymore advice

I really need to see what you're doing. Take a picture of the model before and after chamfering, just use print screen and paste it into paint or something, then upload them to a picture hosting account

yeah i have signed up,now how do i attatch the image,because when i go to attatch file,it automatically goes to my pictures,

oh, you go to your photobucket account and find your picture, there sould be a url below like "photobucker.com/your/account/picture.jpg" or something. you need to paste this into the message window with the image code around it, for example.

"your url here"
