Hi guys - HAPPY NEW YEAR YO' ALL
My problem is my renders are a little hazy, so usually I export my stills to Photoshop and sharpen them to get a crispy pic.
Is there a way I can make the initial renders crispy and clear in my Max 6.0, for the sake of animating?

try different filters.....
catmull-rom or Blackman have a sharper look with edge enhancements....
they can be found in your render roll-out...

Eww! Oh Eww! Are you using the Save to Web output feature of Photoshop? Your Jpg degradation is way too high- it looks like 30 or 40. It should be 60 at the lowest. Otherwise you get these horrible boxy patterns apearing.

But yes, try different filters. Read the 3DSM manual where it talks about anti-aliasing, and it should have all your answers.
If you've misplaced it, use F1.

Good luck, and great scene!
