How can we show something edges?
For example if i make a car and i want to show the contrast among the door and body what should i do?
I know that by materials we can do useful works for this subject but i don't know exactly what should we do?

I'm not sure I quite understand what you're trying to do. Please clarify and I'll try to help.

ok
I try to explain more
I don't have any problem in modeling a car, but once i start working with materials and rendering, my object become ugly.
I think i should use another rendering tool for rendering cars but i don't know what is it.
please post me a tutorial about rendering a car.

What software are you using?

Here is a tutorial for rendering a car in Max 6, using Mental Ray renderer. Click here. (http://www.3dkingdom.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=541)

For rendering,i am using 3dsmax 7.
Thank you a lot for that tutorial, also excuse me if my sentences are grammatically wrong or incomprehensible it is because english is not my first language and i am new in english and here is the first place that i am talking in english.
How is my english?

All things considered; your English is surprisingly good. Do you mind if I ask, what is your first language?

Ohhh! thank you very much, you surprised me.
My first language is persian, have you ever encountered it?

No, I haven't encountered Persian. My experiences with languages foreign to me is limited. Although living in California my whole life, I have heard a lot of migrants speaking in their native tongue (mostly Spanish, but also alot of Asian languages).

Everybody that know the answer of this question:
What should i do to design the lines by which we separate the different parts of car?
Please see the attached image to find out my purpose.
The following image belong to Here (http://www.geocities.com/the_devils_avarcardo/tdacarstudio) .

A bump map will give the illision of edges, but it wont actually effect the mesh. Pair it up with a good texture and it will help.

Are you trying to make this a lowpoly model? i.e. Are you going to mashsmooth the final car?

About the render, I would recomend that you keep working on the modeling aspect for now, and think about rendering as little as possible until the car is done.

If you want, you can email me your max file and I will try to figure out some settings that work for this scene.

Hi Olympus
There is a mistake, I haven't made that car, i have gotten it from This site (http://www.geocities.com/tdafiles/mclarentutorialpage1 ) .

olympus

Ohhh, now I get it. *slaps self on forehead* In that case try deleting the front back and side blueprints from the scene. Also make sure your white plane above the car is upside down (visible side facing down).

I haven't gotten my answer yet. But i think you haven't found out my purpose
my purpose from that two images was that: In first image we don't have the borders of door & windows but in the second image we have.
I think some of cars which i have seen in this site tell that i should find my answer during modeling not in materials.

Find all the edges you want to define ( the border of the door ) and chamfer them a bit. Then select the polygons created from this chamfer and give them a different material ID. If your car material is not a "Multi/Sub-Object" make it so ( File - > Change material/map type... -> Multi/Sub-Object ). Find the cell with the same ID as the one you've set the polygons to, click it, and change the material to black. Go up one parent level and apply the material to the car. Your edges should show as black now, and be clearly defined from the rest of the car.

I hope this helps.

Yes, it helped me thank you.
But i think i've seen another method in a different model,it was a human body in which the creator had made a cage of main edges in addition to the body. and it caused some lines of body to appear with a faint color. This lines had made that body very good.
