Hi All,

I'm about to start on my first character for animation purposes and I'd like some advice please :)

Is it best to model the body then model clothes on top, or model the clothes as 'the' model if you get what I mean. Basically, should a body be modelled under the clothes?

Thanks, I'm using Max if it makes any difference :)

I would usually model a rough body where the clothes are gonna go just to get the form and shape right, it's good practice so you can change the clothes later if need be and not have to work too much on any body parts that might be showing .
It's not a necessity though and if you can get by without any extra modelling then good, why spend time modelling something that won't be seen anyway.
It really depends on your workflow and what you feel comfortable with.
For me personally i do the body as a whole then model the clothes on top, just because i usually change the clothes a few times until i am happy with them.
