Hi all

I have had 3d max now for about 2 months and want to know where i can learn about making nice scenes like i see all over this site. I especially lwould like to learn about making interior rooms and things like alleyways and cityscapes etc. I have looked all over for a good starting tutorial but not much luck.

All help is appreciated

Hey man, I think that you should start with the tutorials that come with the program. You can actually work your way through them at a quicker pace than they suggest, and they are a great way to teach yourself the main aspects of what can seem a daunting task. For example, when you do the tutorial on particle flow, you know the basics and from then on you can experiment in getting the effect you want.

I would suggest also having a look at the tutorials on this site, as there are some gems in there, expecially the whole scene ones.

If you are going specifically for the inside and maybe architect style of 3d, I would suggests going through the modelling and texturing and lighting sections of the 3d max tutes that come with the program. In fact, if you have version 6 (7 as well? i dont have it so I am not sure but I presume it is in there) there is a section on architecture, as one suspects they are eventually going to incorporate viz and max into one package.

Anyway, I hope that helps you get started, and trawl the net, because you should always be able to find tutes for what you need.
