ZBRUSH - after you paint an object, can't it be modified again?

I downloaded the zbrush demo, and after 1 day of using it, I am incredibly impressed. I have never been able to make good organic models through conventional means, and after a few minutes, I was already making a monster!

Anyway, it seems that after I de-select whatever object I'm working on, I can't select and rotate it and so forth. Once again, I'm using the demo; is that the reason I can't do it?

Reason, sujects there's no doubt you can edit an object once it's been deselected.

Imagine never closing Zbrush until your model was finished...
