ok what is the best way to set up a hand in max (7). not Using CS, and ide rather not use coustome scripting. I specificaly need help on some sort of solver that will work for the fingers.

Well it kind of depends on what you need the hand to do. My current rig setup has a control object that allows you to curl each finger from that object, whilst still maintaining individual joint control as well, using an FK setup. I also have a controller that allows for finger spread. (would require a little extra bit of expression scripting for a normal hand as my character only has 2 fingers.)
Generally all this is done using wired parameters & list controllers.
If you like I can go into detail, but it will be quite a long post.
