Oh dangit, I just remember that this thread doesn't allow the IMG tag to be used, and linking with a hotlink is a DQ....Forget I said anything.

nice idea alkron... i can see alot of people miss the challenges, but i know there is a good reason, so posting stuff like DaftPunk did, isnt really helping out. Your idea sounds good tho... i miss to hang out with you guys... so maybe its allowed to just open a tread somewhere...

oh and orkron... LOL

My post was meant as a cry of anticipation for when this all gets back to normal, not a complaint about the site or the people who run it, I think youre reading it wrongly. I appreciate all they do here, and my post was just showing how addictive this wonderfull site has become.

look guys, every post we have to answer regarding this problem diverts us away from the time we can spend solving it.

If I reopen the threads and allow image posting like you said all that happens is I have

a, another pile of work to do sorting out which images are acceptable

b, another pile of work answering the inevitable questions

c, another pile of work in future weeks when I have to disqualify all the external images from people who say "well you allowed it last week"

Now, we will let you know as soon as the problem is sorted and if there is nothing resolved by Tuesday evening (GMT) we have a plan B so keep working on the challenges and we'll keep trying to get things back to normal :)

Thanks for all of the hard work Andy, we really appreciate it. Oh, inspired... i finally did a tut on how i make the cables on my mech. There a link to it (if you havent seen it yet) in my signature area below. I plan on making a more complex tut soon but for now it shows the basics.

Daftpunk: ummm, well you quoted me, but did you notice I quoted myself? I wasn't reffering to your post in any way so don't think i was critisizing you....

Andy: Sorry man, that's why I followed up my first post with the second stating why it wouldn't be a good idea...sorry bout that...I won't say anything else except good luck.

Orkron.

I Wish good luck for you guys. I have a Forum too, and a 3d Community, and i know how hard is to take everthing working nice. And how bad is to have the situation "out of control" when we have some crash on the server or some annoying error... :(

People don't ever imagine the great job we need to do "behind the scenes", to get everything working fine to everybody. :)

So, keep tight and lets wish together to have the forum at full power working perfectly as soon as possible.

Take Care Andy.

btw : Sorry about my Bad english. :)

Hey there are alot of tutorials out there to take look at!

And since what so ever the forum is gonna be getting back.. how about concentrating all your attention on modeling some kick ass nutcrackers?!
And posting them correctly?

I think it would be a cool way to thank Andy for all the hard work he is putting himself through.

Well, i'm not really sure where to start this week's summary, the brief said "wheelbarrow" didn't it?

I don't remember asking for tracked vehicles, carts, rickshaws, flying barrows (with NO wheels etc etc etc.

All the usual modelling comments apply and the standard went from very good to downright awful with massive facets on some of the models - just for a change why don't some of you try looking past the meshsmooth/low poly approach to every single project? Use these challenges as a way of improving and learning new techniques not just sticking to what you know. Many of the models seemed rushed and poorly prepared

So, bearing in mind we asked for practicality single wheel barrows were seen as the standard as they are versatile and allow easy progress over most types of terrain - there is a very simple reason why the design has remained virtually
unchanged for so long - it works. Reinventing the wheel is one thing but don't try and sell us something that doesn't work as well as the thing you are trying to replace. Being able to load and unload the barrow was also important, so many of you ignored the basic requirements and therefore didn't get included in the judging.

Those that did make it were good, and some were truly excellent. If you got this far then congratulations, if you didn't make the lists then ask yourself where you can improve for next time

Andy
