Hi guys

I am texturing some wallaper that is a repeated seamless image map. If I wanted to create a rip or dirt in various places how can I do this without the rip and dirt parts being repeated along with the image map?

cheers

You struck a stone on my part.

It's a software I have never textured or set UV's or anything in.
:(

Tell you what. In MaYA there is this option called 'UV-sets' something like that would serve exactly what you need. I'll mention about it to you so you could keep an eye for it in your software.

How it works is you are able to asighn diffrent UV projection sets to the same object. And then you are able to asgihn the the material to the set you would fancy.
Like lets say you have a wall. And you do a planar projection. And then another plannar projection but this time save it as 'Damage' or somthing.
So you create two materials.. one that has the wall paper desighn on it. And you insert the number of times you would like the texture to repeat along the wall.
As for the graffiti/rips and tears... you just have it spread out to the wal as it is. and choose to asighn this to the second 'DamageSet'

You might want to look for an option such in Lightwave. As it would save you many.

A last option would be to work in your photo editing software by pre-tilling the wallpaper design. Then adding all the damage onto it then applying it as a texture.

Sorry, couldn't be of much more help.
