View Full Version : Max Hair/Fur capabilities

Hello,

Does anyone know any good ways to do fur in Max without having to buy a plugin or anything? I'm working on a Bison model but the only way to add fur that I know of is the scatter object which bogs down by pc with too much geometry. I'm open to any suggestions or tutorial links.

why do not you use the same scatter of planes mapped with opacity map.a good option if you want hairs allarround with less mesh.but the thing is to animate it according to the movement of the object.

you can also use alph channels.Make flat ploys for the hair. Then make your hair in your favorite paint program then mask it out and you'll have the apperance of hair. You have to use the alpha in your opacity map rollout in the material section....that is if you are using Max of course. I think I will make a quick tut for this.
