Yeah, it looks great. The reputation point system seems interesting as well.

The only issue I have with the look is that the background is pretty light, which although works well with the color scheme, can make an artwork seem a lot darker than it really is. But I think it's a bit darker now compared to the old look, so it's probably fine. Overall the new design is more sleek and clean, which I like a lot.

Just a piece of my mind :). Keep up the great work.

I think you guys did a great work on putting everything back up! I really like the new looks too. :) I'm curious to see how the reputation points thing will work out...
A big thumbs up! ;)

I agree with Phynius Gauge. Working with print projects you mount up on matt or foam core board, black always lets the art work stand-out and your image doesn't have to "fight" the surronding area. But black would probably be a bit harsh, especially for all of the text posts.
The update on the software seems to be running smoothly on my end. The reputation point system seems interesting for sure. Not sure what is meant by the "minimum" points you eluded too. (Could be I'm tired too!) After a couple of posts here, seems like old hat, so that is nice too. (I hate high learning curves...lol)
You guys did a bang-up job getting this back together. I can't imagine what you had to go through.

OK I re-read the minimum stuff....meaning negative????

yeah you can go into negative reputation - -99999 is the mark to aspire to :)

I kinda like the new look of the forums.

Some small crits.
-The top banner should be integrated into the big white rectangular shape, or try to make the big white thing smaller.
-The post reply button is aligned to the left, wasn't it aligned to the right before the upgrade?
-Some parts look a little too big(like the blue bars wich seperate the forum parts)
-The forums is too wide, i like having some space at the sides, it's more comfortable.

Other than those small crits i really like what you have done. Great job!

don't think we can integrate the top banner and the "big white thing". Vbulletin have made it "simpler" to add a header but the current top banner is only a placeholder whilst we make a new one

we are looking at ways of making the white thing smaller, but as far as I can tell it is dynamic and adjusts it's size according to the information it is displaying - there doesn't seem to be a "quick fix" for changing it's display colour either

buttons have changed as well, the alignment may have changed for the post reply but check out the quick reply at the bottom right of each message that's a really cool little tool :)

the dark blue bars between posts now carry information they didn't have before (it was below the user name) that's hard coded and we can't do much about it - apart from reduce the font size slightly - I'll have a look

the forum width is still set to it's defaults - we thought it looked cool with less wasted space in your browser - let's hear other peoples opinions on that one.

There is so much more we can adjust on this forum software but there is also a lot that we can't just change simply because vbulletin have hard coded a lot more than before - guess that's called progress.

I'm all for the less "breathing room" more posting room. And the blue bars are cool because it's easier to see post breaks when one is scrolling quickly through a thread.

But my favorite part of this upgrade is the extra 4400 pixels of avatar space. I just love it :lurve:

You guys [mods] are the chillest of the chill

I love the new look - very nice! A lot easier to reply, as well. Great job on the update guys, seemed like you had a LOT of work to do - well done.

you can only see who left you rep points if they decide to tell you :)

however the admin staff can see all the details but we aren't saying anything :)

About the reputation points system...is there a way to see how many points you've earned? And how many points others have earned?

About the reputation points system...is there a way to see how many points you've earned? And how many points others have earned?

1, clicking on the "user cp" will show your recently earned reputation points

2, clicking on the scales below your name will show not only the reputation value for that post but your total

3, the little green icons below your name are an indication of how many rep points another user has.

I really like the new look...the extra width is good IMO and these reputation points should prove interesting :) The only thing I don't like is one of the new smilies ----> :p

Also, has anyone else noticed that the clock is wrong?

Just a stupid question... but what is the point of the points system? Could it be used as a reward from visitors to a particular thread, who think the artist have done excellent work or something? I've never really bothered to look into what point systems mean on forums... well, until now that is!

yes you are right, it is a stupid question one which you could easily have answered yourself by reading the announcement which we took the time to post at the top of every single forum!!!

Not bothering to look seems to be something you do quite a lot.

I really loved the new forum. It looks great, and easy to navigate.
Congratulations to everyone who worked on it.

But I do have one question:

Can we be banned for having bad points? And do we get the for asking stupid questions? :hmm:

Andy_k-3DT
17-03-2005, 01:14 AM
nobody will get banned automatically for getting negative points

yes, if you ask stupid questions that we have already answered then you probably will end up with negative reputation points :)

just for the record - you haven't because that wasn't a stupid question

This means that you have 0 points on plus, and 0 on minus... so you`ve got NOTHING :D :D :smug: :smug: :smug:

I'm really sorry for not reading the announcement - I seriously did not notice it. I try to read things on the forum, but I totally missed that. I understand how much work it must take to try to inform guests about certain things - and people like me who don't read these and then ask you to answer them must be a real pain. My apologies.

The clock is still wrong :P

At 00:20 (GMT+2) it read "All times are GMT +2. The time now is 06:06 AM"

Call me fussy, but this is annoying me. Mainly because I can't think why updating threedy would change the clock.

I've scheduled the correction of the clock for Monday morning.
We can only fix the hours though, the minutes will remain wrong, I'm afraid. We can only email the server provider to ask for a correction.

A question concerning the icons to the right of eash section....the hide icons....if I set these to hide certain sections from displaying...can that setting be saved? and where do you set that prefference?
I`ve noticed when I hide certain sections then log back in...the hidden sections appear again....

thanks

it means that they are users who can vote but that vote doesn't register as they are new and haven't made many posts on the forums. It's one of the safeguards we put in place to stop silly reputation squabbles with people registering multiple accounts to either give themselves big positive scores or people they didn't like lots of negatives and to make sure that only the "real" members votes count
