You saw the question. This is my method (which i think sucks and that's why i'd like to know if there are better ways to do it...): first i make my texture in photoshop, then i import it to imageready where i'll do the animation (well, imageready isnt exactly the best...) and last i open adobe's premiere, import the animated gif file there and export it as avi

I think this is a software related issue... It would really depend on which program you are using. Most would demand the use of image sequences instead of ready animations.
What exactly is your question here?

max material editor can use gifs as a bitmap, although I haven't tried animated ones. Most of the time, I just create the texture in max and keyframe the changes right from there using the various shaders and stacking capabilities. One of my animated textures for an exploding planet was 27 materials deep....I think I went a little nuts after that one lol.
If it is for something that I would need to make with video or text for, say, a video screen, I usually composite in After Effects and export out using an image sequence file.
But Black is correct....what is the question....be more specific with the type of texture you want to animate.
