nope... the only thing you could do is give it engines and put it into a scene... but that pretty much means to finish it... which you're gonna do anyway so... looks good! :)

HEY.......it looks like a battlecruiser from StarCraft...of course....ur own concept.... thats cool......no crits....
pecenipicek
16-04-2005, 01:29 AM
:p whee
hmm, now on to ask bout texturing, how should i approach it?
should i search the net for textures or should i make my own?
and Master_Blaster, wait till you see it in an animation taking apart the said cruiser :D (if i get my special C4D version of it :D )
Master_Blaster
16-04-2005, 01:40 AM
and how will ur animation be?......i think u should make ur own textures.....but of course if u think that u don't get the desired results....u should try internet...if that doesn't help neither.............u should consider dumping the model...it's something wrong with it :smug:

:D
yeah, on self-creating the tex'es , got any tuts?
most tuts i got for texturing were mainly for applying the textures on the models, which is not exactly what i want...

mind if i ask, why doesnt anyone give me even comments like its bad, or what should i improve? it really bugs me, cause noone comments on anything i make(almost noone ;) )...
and without proper feedback, i cant get much better...

but any help would be appreciated..
meh, all im askin for is something else other than "woah, its cool" an variations on the subject...
im in need of real constructive criticism.(or rather impatient :xx: :p )

k...so for further comments we need to know what it's going to be used for,....what u whant to represent (not just a thingdoodle :) ).....and than we will talk.....and u should start texturing if u really want commentz...as i'm concerned i thing it's just ready for texturing.... i woudn't change anything....do u feel it needs something?because u can't see in ur mind .......

on the texturing, id like any tips to creating good textures.
on the model, im gonna change some minor details at most, cause im not really statisfied how some parts turned out.
its supposed to be a fighter for an animation i plan to create. first ill finish the modelling, then texturing, then the effects and as the last the whole rigging and lightning.
texturing is the only thing giving me one hell of a time for now.

come on people, do i really have to texture it to get you to post your opinions :D

Hey, Pecenipicek Nice going. Just saw this thread. A couple of thoughts on this, looking at your pics, I noticed that on the back elbows of your main outside guns, looks like a little mesh crunching going on. And how many people fit in this thing...one? Where...don't see a cockpit type of place.
Also, I would extrude inward on your barrels more. They come to a stop near the opening. IMO, I prefer to "see" the ship put together as opposed to absolute seamless, maybe somesort of attachment here and there to give it some kind of detail. I've attached acouple of things that are easier to see and point out inn words......Good job all the same.

looks good to me. i have a crit though :D
the 4 guns most far from the center look weird. the end has too many funky extrudes. an end of a gun should be smooth in my opinion. oh, one more thing. those same guns dont look hollow. you didnt delete the poligon at the end, you just pushed it inside a bit. thats not good ;) that gun cant fire if its not hollow :)

how many people fit in this thing...one? ......
i think it should be a mother ship.....not a fighter...
do i really have to texture it to get you to post your opinions
well yes.....it's easyer to crit after u posted some atempt of texutre.....
just one thing ....if u make this a mother ship as i said i really imagine this with guns "atached" (as fastrak said )....and all sort of lighst on it...
of and if u played StarCraft u know that the Battlecruiser has a special weapon....a super laser coming from the nose of the ship....it's called yamatogan .... i think ( lol i can't even remember the name i think of me a SC pro.....lol ).....so u should make the nose of the ship able to fire something like that.........
but if it's not a big ship ....than i think the model it's ready for texturing....

ahh, that, no fastrak, thats not mesh crunching, it intentional. this was posted still unfinished, i wasnt able to do anything more that day...
those on the back of the guns at the edge, the second crunching isnt intentional, its a error with the beveling... instead of reducing the size a bit, it enlarged it, sort of like a negative bevel, i've changed that in the newest version, ill render it in about 10-20 minutes
thanks for pointing out for the barrels.
and i think that there maybe will be a cockpit... not sure.
Master_Blaster its Yamato gun :D
as for the texturing... UV mapping is killing me...

The texturing is looking very promising.....nice model. I still think you should add more detail like panels/hatches/handles etc. and shouldn't smooth the mesh :)

the mesh has to be smoothe cause it doesnt look right when it isnt :p
and yeh, the textures were a bit twitchy at times ;)
details will come, they will...

Looking interesting.....does this one have a cockpit, or is it another AI controlled one?
Hurry up and finish it! ;) I want to see this in a scene...

20-04-2005, 08:24 PM
i think the texuring is not good enough
pecenipicek
20-04-2005, 11:41 PM

the texture it needs some work...but by the way u started this is looking like a speed racer ship....not a scary powerfule beasty war machine....u have to make it look like it has gone to lots of battles....not like it's brand new......

Haha, Your post did not make sense until now. You can meshsmooth but makesure that you add chamfers to areas you want to remain sharp. The barrels seem thin. You would want a chamfer on the outer and inner ring that makes the cannon to keap its thinkness. It reminds me a little of the Andromida.

It looks really cool, but why are all the guns aimed forward? What if somebody creeps up from the back or the side?

I think if that was chamfered a LOT, it would look a million times better. The smooth look it has now makes me dislike it, even though I like the design.
That's my opinion at least, I don't know if anyone agrees or not.
Nice design at least m8!

hmm A bit to much smooth imo. It's great, but try to lower the smoothless a tiny bit, might make it look cooler
