Draw yourself as a warrior!

Woo, ive finially finished all of my courseworks for this year! Finially, i can get back to drawing and painting, and what better way to start than with a freindly competition?

Ok heres the plan, i need to practice my PS skills and general digital painting, so i decided i would try and draw a warrior. So i thought, heck ill use myself as a reference and thats when this idea struck me! Imagine this as a sort of daily speed sketch/ speed painting challange! There is only one rule and that is that the submission(s) must be of a warrior and that it must be you (any type of warrior, futuristic sci-fi, fantasy, surreal etc...).

There are no deadlines, no 'winners or loosers' per se, everyone just has a go for a bit of fun. I hope you will join me, and ill look forward to seeing peoples submissions.

Here is my primary sketch, its me as a 'ROAD WARRIOR' (Mad Max fan here!). Its ok, but im pants at drawing guns and that shows (what a poor revolver?!). What do people think? The posture is ever so slightly hunched, i think i tried to draw it all in the space i had avaliable in stead of just making the canvas bigger! And more c&c people can offer before i go into the details?

Looks good....I would puff out the sleeves and shape your arms a bit more accurately, though :)

I'm not sure if the legs are too short or if it's deliberate foreshortening (to convey perspective). Perhaps a basic background?

hummm Nice. But please redo the revolver o.o Get yourself a reference and draw from that. Sorry maybe its just me...I really like Revolvers. Such fine Weapons...uhhhhhh :P :D
Im drawing a kind of Gunslinger with a medieval Wood-Metal Armor....lol that will be so primal-punk like :D

Went in another direction, same pose etc... Ive basicially just drawn myself in an angry pose, and have different layers over the top to experiment with. This has a more modern, ninja/kill bill type thing going on... Just ideas at the moment!

Well ive worked on my road warrior a bit more. Still not happy about that revolver but it will do for now as a sketch! What do people think?

Heres my wip..quite happy with the face...of course i altered a bit here and there...it looks more round in RL and im used to shave the stubbles....

Ive coloured this one, although im not 100% happy with it. It needs more of a 'warrior' feel... I need to go back over and add in some details methinks!

It needs grime. Lots and lots of Grime. With a bit of dirt on top. :)

Perhaps a colour palette that is predominantly brown, or even just darker greys would help give it the atmosphere you're looking for?

What an awsome Idea. If I have time I will also join in. Ibbo, great expression and relaxed pose. Avatar, Haha, looking as knoble as ever. I love the way you did the armor. Higher protection against right handed people. I am somewhat working on a Sci-fi character for class right now with that same theory.

edit, I missed Corky's drawing. I love seeing contruction lines. I am not sure why. It is also a great piece so far. Davids is also very good. His is almost creapy because he looks so inocent holding a shotgun shell, shotgun and an Ax. Feels like you would walk up to him asking if he needs help then he hacks you up with a smile on his face without making a sounds. He then loads that shotgun shell and splinters your head with it. Afterward he pulls a new shell out of his pocket and gazes at it. haha.

Oh yeah, a real picture (great resembalance with you and your warrior Avatar)! Here is me posing for the camera for a reference shot when i did for my self portraits. Ok ok ok, its a bit posy but its one of the only photographs i have of myself not doing something stupid!

Yeah Kamal, I tried to make it as similar as possible. Could've been better but, to be honest, I kindda rushed things.:)
jd, you saw my "48 hours, no sleep" face. I look cool? Like a dead guy cool, he? :D Spiked hair? Never. I hate spiked hair. Useless and uncomfortable plus that you have to take care of that look every day so you waste time in which you can do better things. I usualy cut my hair short but in periods I have lots of work and don't leave my home much I get quite a rocker look.
Ibbo, you look like a nice guy in you're picture and as a dark, tough son of a gun in your drawings. Great work might I say. I like the coloring style a lot.

Thanks for the comment, but I am afraid I was stupid enough to save the file as it is here on the forums, just a simple little jpg file. I can't really fix the nose or anything in a good way. I could use liquify in photoshop, but... bah..

yeah i know what you mean. :( that is annoying. the liquify only works to a certian dergee. other than that it is no help at all.
