Look up there! it's a bird! no a plane! no.. it's it's SUPERMAN!! no...it's just a new user ;p sorry it's not often I come up with stupid little things to say.

First off hey! imma newb. umm soo like the subject says i use maya, i've been using it for about a year now so i'm still fairly green with it. well i have a model i made of a woman elf, nothing special there. i'd show screeny's but i have no idea how to here and no website if that's required. what my issue is, is on mapping it. i've read many tuts on breaking the map into seperate sets for a more accurate texturing but i tried it with making a head set first and it just shows up black nomatter what i do to the texture. so i ask how would i go about creating a map set for the arms, head, torso, and legs. placing them on the model and having it correctly show the texture?

the version is 5 if that's important. i'd use deep piant but i have no idea how to and so far haven't found any tuts on it's use iether.

To show screeny's here just click post reply ( bottom left) then on the page that comes up> manage attachments will let you browse you HDD for the files you wanna show.
It's better if you keep them around the 100k mark and about800 x 600 so people with dial up can view them easier also.
not sure about Maya but i'm sure some one will help you out
