I noticed someone submitted recently a woman with jesus in her lap.. well that image is a fake!! It is originally a sculpture by Michelangelo Buenarotti during the Renaissance.. and i bet he didn't model that because every little detail is exacly the same.. even the cloth is folded the same!!

Umm... but you will notice some things such as the shadows and highlights are different, and there are minute details missing or changed either in the modelling or the texture.. soo for now I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, and say excellent model to Vladimir

I have to agree that I do see small deferences. Maybe he should have said what he modeled but that is it. I think it is legit.

Uhm, this model was on the frontpage of cgtalk.. It's a model, as proof, here's the wire.
Offcourse, this isn't mine, all the credit goes to Vladimir Minguillo, the incredible artist behind this artwork.

I agree.
Mr Sharky, if you looked not even closely you can see the difference. Look for example at the foot detail of Mary, her sandled toes just poking out from under the cloth.
I think as you have made such an accusation you should at least have the decency to retract it with an apology to the artist in question.

this is shady man... i am sorry to say that this is really unsporting of you... hope to se the apology posted soon... its ok to criticize but not cool to accuse without proof... think before you speak and look before you leap...

either that or just take the accusation as a compliment of the best sort :D it means the artist is good enough to fool people and that is praise indeed :)

Think before you jump man. Just cuase some one posts an amazing pic doesent mean it's fake. I've seen ALOT of car models that look like I am staring at a photo and then I see the wires...so ya be more careful man.

I think that vladimir has payed a great tribute to Michealangelo's work, I think that the piece is famous enough that most people who are into art history would know the images origins. overall a great study of a great masterpeice.

Moved to general CG.
It's a very good master study, I personaly doubt that it's not CG. You can even spot a perlin marble procedural as the texture. :)

the pic is not a fake, and has alot of proof behind it. unless he faked the 3d mesh also........

I've once though of something. Rather than model a photorealistic scene, would this be easier:
Take a photo of something, then edit the image and manually draw wireframes around everything... Then when people say your image is a fake, it's a photo, you show them the wireframes... :D Hah!

now, that is a scary possibility
Ok we all have the point here...
Mr. Sharky, you where very wrong in your assumtion, and I am sure that next time you will do something before trying to say one of the 3d masters works are fake.
Every one else, its all over.. thread closed..
