When you say it just doesn't work.. do you mean you don't know how to utilise it or it's not functioning??

"Texturing Sad Mike" by Nikola Drincic is a tutorial at http://www.3dtotal.com/tutorials/
under the texturing tab that goes into a bit of detail on how to use texporter.

Hey,
first off it'd found under the utilities tab, usually under "more utils."
to use:
statethe type of render you want for your mesh render, selecting all appropriate options.
then select unwrap election and click on the object ad you should be presented with a render of the unwrapped mesh. if you selected a resolution for it that was too high, it will automatically scale to a default sized window,
DO NOT BE ALARMED AND THINK IT DOESN'T WORK
if you zoom in you find that the resolution is actually what you wanted it to be.
now save this mesh render and open up in photooshop or whatver.
I also recommend you take a look at PSD Path Unwrapper, which can be founbd on scriptspot.com.
you would be required to go onto the site ad dowload the stuff for max 6/7, so pay attention to what is said. All this program does is unwraps your mesh to a PSD file containing only paths, so no matter what the resolution, the lines that contain your unwrapped mesh render stay at one pixel wide.
For more info on this I reccomend you download the texturing tutorial from www.poopinmymouth.com and the relevant video tut on his tuts page.
cheers
