Something like this: spray generates particles- particles fall down into the wate causing water to wave depending on particle, size, speed, shape.
How-to?

Hi, is this what u are looking for? But I'm still learning particle, so far this is what I can do.

Particle system could generate forces, push the boxes down (just bind the particle to the Deflector: Dynaflect Space Warp). But they can't change other object shape.
Some types of space warps are designed to work on meshes, other types of space warps work on particle system only.
And Water Space Warp, works with meshes/patches only.
This is my conclusion after reading the help file several times. So I recommend using rigid body to cause wave and ripple or using Wave/Ripple Space Warp, animate the water manually.

Objects at different height, different size. About water splash u have to use Particle System.

Particle System can't effect other object's shape, but it could knock other object down.

If u are using Intanced Geometry/Shape Intance Operator for particle system, u could add the original gemetry into collection at reactor (RB, Cloth, SB, etc), but u cannot add the particle system or generated particle (no matter how the particle shape look like) into collection.
If they CANNOT be added into collection at reactor, then they CANNOT use the Water Spacewarp (water space warp can only be used with reactor).
If I'm wrong please tell me. I'm just a little cute girl :o

I used Ground Water. Maybe u need to put a light at top of the water.
