Hi everyone!

I've been working on a simple model, but it's gradually been getting more and more complicated. However, I'm an amateur, so the model is still comparatively simple. Now, when I run 3dsmax(7), I get about 5 minutes out of the program before it crashes with an "out of memory" error! In this 5 minutes I usually have time to weld about two vertices (yes, it takes that long!) before it dies. I just thought I'd ask as I know that my model is very, very simple compared to those which are being created all the time by advanced users. If you look at the picture below, you'll see for yourself; perhaps you can judge whether or not a model of this complexity should cause problems on this average system:

Athlon 64 1.8ghz
512mb DDR400
GeForce2 MX400 64mb
80gb HDD
I also have my Virtual Memory manually set: 512mb-4gb.

You need to get more ram for your computer. I had 512 and mine was running really slow too. I upgraded to 1 Gig of ram and it runs fine now. So I would recommend that.

you have some sort of memory leak..
check for spyware,
uninstall and reinstall max
this is also a known problem for cracked versions of max ;) but your not using one of those im sure, because that is illegal and not supported here :)

Could this be simply because I'm using 3D Studio MAX 7.0? I've just remembered that a couple of models I did ages ago in MAX 5 and 6 were fine, and were as if not more complex than Mr. Rabbit. Perhaps it's a compatibility issue? I have an AMD Athlon 64.
