View Full Version : SPEEDPAINTING CHALLENGE nr.30 - a SUPERHERO.... flawed.

Michael

This one should be really cool (inspiration from RBL)

This weeks challenge will be to paint a famous superhero. BUT with flaws, that normally superhero doesn't have, like... overweighted Superman with belly comming from beneath his uniform, or Beast from X-Men without his teeth. Or Batman with a long, white beard. I think you see where it's going.

RULES! (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=24525)

Have fun, be creative and make great works of art, that will shine in your portfolio! :D

Hey there.

Came across this section of the site whilst hunting for tutorials. Have decided to become a member as this seems like a great idea and a lot of fun. Seem to have joined at just the right time as the latest challenge sounds wikid! Will get right on it.

Mr Messy.

Oh, I have to write that, cause it's been an issue before...

The description I've wrote, these are just options, you can make up your own flaws for the super-heroes of course. :p But go in that direction.

Well, this is interesting...
As soon as I find myself a superhero to hang out, I am in!

Cant believe I've been a member for so long now and this is my first post...

i have the time now to start entering these contests and I cant wait to get stuck into this one, so many ideas, but where to start???

Think i might go for the punisher although wether he counts as a super hero or just a bad-ass im not sure so i may have a look into the x-men or maybe do the Teen Titans with a bad case of Acne!!!

Best get Started...

Michael

RBL - yeah, it's different from what you suggested, but as I've wrote - it was inspired by you :). I was affraid to use your idea, cause some of the members would not like the darkness in it - no offense, I hope :) 5 challenges back or so - people wrote that they want to go away from the evil and dark things. But it'll come time to that we paint it. :)

BTW - GREAT inspiration RBL! Not necesarily they need to be old, but yeah - that's the direction :D

BuffDady - well, where do you start... ust grab a pencil or a tablet, draw, scan ( in case of a pencil ) and post it here! :D

Robert_Lever - there are tons of superheroes out there, I'm sure you'll find something :)

Okay...I don't think I'll be able to do this one on account of me having to move in four days...but I do have two questions.

Number One: When I eventually finish my piece for The Seven Ravens, should I post it on the old thread or on the most current speed challenge?

Number Two: I asked this before, but I never got an answer...so, I guess I'll ask again. :D Is there a tablet brand that rises above the rest? I've thought about buying one, so...but the internet doesn't offer that much information on the subject. I was hoping to find something like a poll on which brand is the best, but I had no such luck...

Thanks!

to 1: better post it to the old challenge, but mark it as non-entry ;)

to 2: i guess if you choose a Wacom u make nothing wrong. I have a grapphire3 a5, which works quite well for me and wasn't very expensive.

Quick frist one for this week - just wanted to get one out there. May try and come up with something a litlle more original for this one later.
Time 1 hour roughly.
photoshop, wacom, pencil.

I didn´t know anything about the dark/evil issue. The 1st time I rode the guide lines I though "what stupid!", but now I´m thinking about a serious and realistic scene about classic superheroes cause they´re not invincible although powerful.

Trying this one in pen at the moment. May put a bar scene behind him of some sort.... may not bother myself

Anyway he's a scotch addicted alcoholic superman...

pen, wacom, photoshop - 2 hours

Haya folks! Here it goes my first work here!

Imagine poor Billy Baxton when he discovers (the hard way) how dangerous his powers can be when they just don't work the right way...

Like, one hour n' a half to do it all...
(wacom tablet & the good old photoshop)

Ice, Freak_Bruther - good ones.

iamtheredrobot - Who is this guy? :)

jamesponge - you need to have the img under 255 kb. The best would be 800x600 about 100 KB or less, to make the forums load faster. When you post - there's a "manage attachments" button, there you upload your pictures.

Come on, guys, post some more!

I thought in a serious and fatal falw of a classic super hero. And this is the result:

Michael

See - that's what I'm talking about... when talking about different interpretation of a guidelines. It can be treated humorously, it can be treated seriously. Great work, RBL.

There's still time, guys. Post your works, Texture Cd's are waiting. :)

hello to the 2d-ers... i've decided that to improve my 3d work i should really get cracking on my 2d stuff. when is the next challenge?
do they change weekly, like the 3d ones do?
also, does the art have to be painted digitally? or can we sketch on paper?
do they need to be in color?
i have a wacom tablet (never figured it out) and plenty of art supplies, so im ready to get started. you guys have an excellent grasp on the human form, and that is something i need a whole lotta help with. (my bio-drawings are horrid)

i usually draw things like vehicles, buildings and still-life non organics.

rashika - welcome to the forums. As for most of your questions... refer to RULES (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=24525) . Next challenge starts this Sunday, but you still can paint something for this challenge, one more day to go. The entries do not need to be in colour.
Maybe we'll come up with something non-organic for the next challenge... we'll see.

Come on guys, one more day to go. :)

Ummm... nobody? Shame. I wish we had more participants. That's why there's feedback and input thread - so that you write your thoughts, propositions etc :p

But nevertheless - it's time to vote, people.

Ok, let's vote! Loved all the works. The Flawed Spiderman is a very cool one... but my vote goes to the Raging Super "Alcahoolic" Man. Real stunning work.

And I feel very sorry to not have more time to post one last work to this Chalange. I really like'd the topic. Please Michael-3DT in the future do anoher one with super heroes.
