Arcane Duelist
Brief description:
Arcane Duelist places the player in control of a magic wielding character in a crumbling ultra-modern metropolis. The player engages other mages in the darkest parts of the city in duels to the death using their magic to gain the tactical advantage and defeat their enemy. The duel is fast paced yet tactical, the goal is to create a game where a smart player will have an advantage over a player who only has fast reflexes.
The main goal of this project is to provide experience in game design and mod development. The project is of limited scope and planned out to be completed in a relatively short time period. The mod has been in development for about 2 months.
Target aim:
The target is a free mod for Half Life 2, designed as a test project for building a game development team.
Compensation:
We are not looking for people who want a paying job, we are looking for new people interested in refining their skills, working on a fun project, and having something completed to show for their work. We can offer you basic things like web space, e-mail, and other things related to the development of the mod. Any contributions will recieve full credit with the eventual goal being to create a game development team for a larger project.
Technology:
We are using Valve's Source Engine to develop this mod, the game will be designed to run on current mid level systems. There are many free tools available that can be used to achieve all aspects of this game, the tools used will be at the discretion of the individual team members.
Talent needed:
There are many positions still available, but our priority is to recruit a second programmer and a 3d character modeler. If you are interested in joining the team in a different capacity we have the following positions available.

Arcane Duelist will include the following features in the test project version.
Arcane Duelist will have two highly detailed maps with large amounts of interactive elements. The maps small size and small number of players will allow for much richer environment.
Arcane Duelist will have two characters for players to choose from. A player can be either the destructive and depraved destruction mage or the cold and calculating corporate mage.
Arcane Duelist will include a moderate selection of spells that players may use to get an advantage over their enemy. Spells will range from confusing illusionary effects to hindering afflictions many more in between.
Arcane Duelist features light intensive gameplay. Light plays a large role in not only the tactical applications of spells but also as an indication of the characters state. A character’s vision grows dimmer as they are wounded, casting spells gives off light, and shadows can protect you from magical attacks.
