Located in Champaign, Illinois, Volition is one of THQ's premier internal game development studios, responsible for high-end creations on next generation systems and PC. Our credits include:The Punisher, Red Faction and Red Faction 2, Summoner and Summoner 2, the acclaimed Freespace and Freespace 2, and, as a part of Parallax Software, the award-winning Descent and Descent 2. Our most recently announced project is Saint's Row, coming soon for the Xbox 360.
We currently have an opening on an unanncounced next-gen title for a Character Artist to work on next-generation video games. This person will:
* Model and texture characters for use in a state-of-the art , real-time 3D, next-generation console game engine.
* Model and texture additional props for characters.
Qualifications:
* Ability to model, texture, and light low to medium poly-count characters at a HIGH level of quality.
* Must have the ability to take a drawing or written concept, translate it to 3D, and apply the appropriate textures while collaborating with other team members such as the Art Lead and Concept Artists and Animators.
* At least two years of applicable industry experience.
* Fluent knowledge of at least one major 3D package (3DS MAX, Maya, Softimage).
* Fluent knowledge of Photoshop, or similar 2D program.
* Strong traditional art skills are a plus.
Sample Work Required:
* Samples of 3D character work, (online, CD, DVD, or VHS format).
* Samples of texture work, raw textures and examples of texture application (flat photocopy or electronic format).
* Samples of traditional skills, sketchbook, drawings, paintings, etc.
All samples must be accompanied by a description of each, with specific information on what you were responsible for, what tools were used, etc.
This is a full-time onsite job. Relocation to Champaign, IL is required.
