Well this week I decided to focus on my lighting so I could get a skylight like feel to my rendering without the high render time. As such I only did a quicky model and quicky textures to focus on tweaking of renders. So just add about 2 1/2 hours to the times on my image and you will have an approximate of the total time spent.
Thanks to Dele for the tip about using IBL's That made the bigest difference in rendering time. So next week I hope I can do an entry that I focus more on the point which is the modeling. Of course the texturing as well.
Now for the image, First there was the 2 blade stick razor. Then there was the Mach 3. Next there was the Shick Quatro. Thinking ahead we skipped a generation and went straight to a 6 blade razor for combination shaving and exfoliating. Ouch :hurt:

hello everybody,
This week was amazing, I was not posting any coments, sorry for that, and promise I cach up next week and I'll coment to almost evrybody. But I watch the show and it was great, amazing models and materials and renders, and ppl are better and better and even it is a modeling contest, the renders are more real and real.
And I'm a little sad because I not coment this week and I got only today a model and I did't been verry bussy, but not feeling in right mood :( and time fly, I even model this model in the first day in over an hour, and only today I mange to say ok I do it, and start modeling it and suceded in one hour.
And I really like it to have more than one model this amazing week :(
...well now it's render and I'll post it before the dead line.
see U
Well, I didn't have time to get the render or presentation up to par this week but it was fun none the less. Great week everybody! :D
First week i get so many comments...great!
Unfortunately I don't have the time right now to comment on all the entries. Just would like to say there are some really nice ones (!). Can't wait for next week's challenge ;)

Hello :crazy:
I made it ;P, hope U like it even if it is in the last 10 minutes.
There is there a smoot wire with a hole in it, that is because I boolean the big main part wher the text go, and I put a version of that part without smoot before the boolean.
The smoot part is exactly like the unsmoot part except that hole, not other change made. So in the render is the smoot part after boolean, but the mesh without smoot its exactly like in the render withow the hole and with the hole is the wire but a smoot wire in the left uper corner.
See U.
Hi i am so late sorry trouble with my browser,
Software used Cinema 4D
modeling time: 60 min
I changed the picture because i had the hyper-nurbs not disabled.
Black thank you for granting me the permission for that.
So the picture is up in time and i can state some comments to it.
It took me a lot of trys to model the eagle in about 45 min and so there was not much time for the blade.
The rendering took more then 25 min just for that picture.
I have no time to comment all and i like most of them, so i will only state my favorite:
OmegaN Your first entry is so perfect. My girlfriend has exactly the same and i think there would be no difference between a photo and a high res render. It is great

I was away for the most of the week.. and had just now had the chance to go through your entries... And you guys seem to have done just great!
Andy has already started the weeks new challange. I guess I might as well call this one to a closing :)
Leto;
yes you have made it in time and any post after yours shall not qualify as an entry.
Nehumanuscrede;
I can call it a good observation. As odd as it may sound a lot of thought goes into the selection of the subjects.
From the first day up Annie and Andy had been trying to figure out concepts that would enforce you to practice your skills in particular ways. This is still mostly the case (And the times it isn't we shall not admit to it being random :))
I don't think it will be too difficult to figure out the possible challange the particular week presents to you. Just know this that concpets are first modeled and simply "tested" before they come to you.
Good luck with the next week!

Leto;
We state it very often that you are not suppose to alter your entries WHAT so ever after the deadline without permission from one of the moderators. Else it is a DQ issue.
I am accepting your entry and seeing your mistake as a mistake.
Go back please and change your first post. And add to the "Reason for Editing" that I have granted you permission. Else every modified entry after the deadline is disqualified.
Alidanesh;
I am sorry... Too late

a pretty one. nice render.
Thanks for commenting SubCroc!
It really gives a boost of motivation to receive C&C from a member with such good work - both modelling and rendering.
We're both using vray so it's cool to see similarities and differences in our images.

cyber_zero, I like the texture work here, man. I like the "sparkly" quality you have on the texture on the body. Was this from a color map you made, or does that come from somewhere else?
The sparkly effect you see on the body of the shaver and on the background plane is called Reflection Glossiness in vray.
What it does is reflect the light rays (in this case reflection of the surroundings) in random directions. This causes the reflection to be not so perfect and actually more realistic. It's like having a surface with very tiny bumps. Most materials aren't really that smooth.
I don't know if you have that option in Maya, but you can try assigning a texture (ex: noise with very small size) to your bump option. Not sure if this will work...

It just might...
It's definetely worth trying, though.
If anything, I'm currently working on learning 3D Studio and convincing my roommate to get his rich parents to buy the software for him ('cause I get to use it as long as he's here, in that case.. Bwaha. Haha. Ha.) so I can poke around and see what comes out.
