For my short film, I require a snowy realm for an ancient culture...So I turned to my old pal Superman for inspiration. I'm using a "Fortress of Solitude" type architecture and basing my civilization's culture off of that. This scene is a WIP.

Here's a bit furthur into concept & design...a smidge of post here.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that this is a LowPoly version...it cuts render time in half.

Hi inveniO,you have made a very nice and original work with your Fortress,I love the material you used and the general lights of the scene. There s something that bothers me about the composition in the second picture you submited, in my opinion the image you used for the background is too strong, too powerfull ( i dont know if I m using the right words or expressions, my english sucks),maybe with an "out of focus" efect in the background you can orient the viewer attention in the fortress. The smooth sky in this image is better than the first one, it s less noisy, and the texture of the snow in the ground is just perfect, good choice.Keep up with the good work !!

Thanks for the comments. Coreaux, I agree about the mountain, but I don't want it to feel distant. So, I added a bit of blur. I also added some trees to maybe help convey the size of the structure.

Your work is getting better and better inveniO, the improvement on the texture of the fortress is awesome ( how did you made it ? ),i also like the detail of that lens flare in one of the "towers", beautiful. The blur in the background adds a litte depht of field that contributes to create volume in the general scene and of course, makes it more realistic.
By incorporating elements like those trees you are surely helping the viewer to establish the size and messure of the diferent components of the scene, good idea.
Well, as you see I only have compliments for your work ! ha ha ha, see ya !!
( sorry again , my english is very primitive, i know )

The texture is really impressive. Perfect for what you're trying to achieve. There picture may not be the best choice for your scene, I can't explain why.
Awesome work mate.

Thanks, guys. The blur above is simply a blur on a map in the back. This update is an actual Depth of Field shot. I don't like it because the detail of the snow is lost, and I don't think it is effective, anyway.
