About the mod:

Dragonball Source (DBSource/DBS) is a RPG Half-Life 2 mod, based on the popular anime, Dragonball Z. DBSource follows the Dragonball Z storyline from start to finish, starting with the Saiyan Saga and ending with the Kid Buu Saga, staying as faithful as possible to the show. You will play as all major characters from the show that are involved with the storyline.

As well as the main story, you'll be able to complete side quests and explore our vast world which includes all locations from the show, including Kami's Lookout, Room of Spirit & Time, Roshi's Island, West City, among but a few locations that will make an appearances in the game.

After you've completed the Single Player game, there will also be a Multiplayer version available to play, including transformations, characters and attacks from the show, and if it appears in the single player, you'll be able to do it in Multiplayer, including playing as all the characters, from Vegeta to Roshi.

Characters:

From the first release (Saiyan Saga) we will introduce the following in the main cast.

Goku
Vegeta
Nappa
Piccolo
Gohan
Tien
Yamcha
Chouzu
Raditz
Yajorobi
Oozaru's

.. And many more

As the saga's progress, all your favorite characters will be introduced to the game

Features:

Attacks & Moves
Range from the Kamehameha to Solar Flare, and from Split Form to Spirit Bomb. There are simply to many moves to list, which include a complex melee system, and if the character does it in the show, you can bet they'll do it in the game.

Transformations
The game will progress the same as the show, Super Saiyan won't be included at first, but Vegeta and Gohan will be able to turn into an Oozaru.

RPG elements
Will include gaining XP and leveling up to improve your characters skills, and eventually getting at a level were they can perform bigger, better, more powerful attacks.

Single Player Aspect
The game will feature a "Player Toggle", allowing you to switch between friendly NPC's helping you gain an advantage in battle.

Staff Needed:

Mappers - Some one that can use valve hammer to create DBZ environments

Animators - Someone that can rig and animate models.

Well the new forums have been up for a while, but this site wasn't, so it was hard announcing the new forums without the new site active. The site is basically the same with a few different things here and there, feel free to explore.

If you were a member of the old phpBB2 forum, you should still be a member of the new vBulletin forum, unless you signed up in the later part of January, then your account sadly wouldn't have been transfered to the new forum. All those who that doesn't apply to though, your account is exactly the same as it was before, with the added new features you get with a vBulletin forum (check your User CP options for further details).

The old web hosting will redirect everyone here hopefully, at least until we get the domain transfered.

If you would like to update your favorites, here are some links worthy of note...

Budokai 3 uses cel-shading (cartoony like) in models and the envirioment, so they can but off some details since the cel-shading will hide that, so they can make it lower poly than normal but we are making a toogle that turn cel-shading on and off, because there are poeple that dont like it. If it was what you meant.

well not exactly , budokai 3 models have the basic principle of material set to 100% self iluminated AND if it can be achieved in jedi knight jedi academy cell shading looks why not in source ? just find a way to it, Dragon ball universe isnt good shaded gouraudly, u could see it in budokai 1 , thats why they udes the same engine that wasnt written for cell shading and still developed a cell shading material .

i learned alot with budokai 3 in cartoon texturing , its basically all in modeling.

P.S - ill post some images of what i meant for jedi academy ;)

Well, there is a HL1 DBZ mod called ESF (Earth Specials Forces) and it is gouraud shaded, but they are some people that do not like Cel-Shading (different people, different taste), and that is why we are going to make a button on options that turn cel-shading on and off. From what i know there is a q3 script for cel-shading that can be used in JKA, well we will needed to code the cel-shading effect, to get in HL2.

ingame shots in jedi knight academy engine , no weird modeling, simple straight to the point stuff, if it is cartoony in tv, then the mod should be cartoony as well, or it wouldnt be like it, just ,my personal opinion ...

and the button for cell shading would be idiot considering that cell shading modeling is completely dif from gouraud , u would have to switch all the models or the cell shaded gouraud would be poo :(

i just hope to be able to blast stuff in hl2 :D

go for it guys !

Well here are some of our update:
On this update, you can see the character sheet in-game and it is under development.
ftp://65.185.35.228/teasers/charactersheet1.rar
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our coder Gundy, has programed this effect for the power up aura, this still a wip, and we are planning to added extra stuff like particle system, sounds, alpha texture and other stuffs to look better.
ftp://65.185.35.228/teasers/yellow-aura.rar
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And this pic (shown on the bottom), show us another wip, from our cel-shading (made by Gundy) toggle button. Keep in mind it still a wip, and it was rendered with tien realistic skin. Either way the black outline is a extra toggle button.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This are some of our update, again more info, updates and media can be accessed by our forum.
Alright, thank you for you time and see you all on our Forum :)
