This is an abstract type scene I made in 3dsmax and rendered in Maxwell. Originally for just my online portfolio, these images may be used for my friend's band CD cover art. Comments and critiques are welcomed :smug:

I like the idea, but I think it'd have been better if the straw jesus was posed so it looked more like it was actually hanging from the cross. Check out some old renaisance paintings for reference, maybe.
The shadows in the first one look really harsh.

Thanks for the comments guys. (For some reason I have gotten alot of one-worded responses like the first 2 responses). The Jesus model is actually metal, but I now notice that it does sort of look like straw. It was kinda hard to pose the model after it was turned into the hundreds of splines that shaped into the main figure. I don't really know why the shadows are so hard, I would like them to make them softer but I couldn't really adjust them for some reason (it was rendered in Maxwell). Which version of image looks better? More comments wanted please :smug:

its pretty simple, isn't it
i found the same script u used and its pretty nice
btw.. like others said, shadow isnt that good, the sun would never reach that point with such a clear and bright sky. and the pose of jesus looks off
it looks like jesus is floating on the cross, and the grass looks.. iono... weird at the least, and the cross is a little TOO undetailed

better work on those things before giving it to your friend for a cd cover ;)
still the idea is pretty nice :)

lol Chris...

Ok here is a better and newer version of the scene. Please don't comment on the first 2 images please, but the images in this post. I got 3 different versions (just some photoshop work). I added "INRI" on the cross, some nails, and some stuff on the cross edges (I also fixed the shadows and the arms a little.) Comments please! :smug:

I really like this scene....am a huge fan of abstract work.....I would just add a little tilt to the cross just to add a little more personality to the scene...... But no big deal........thanks for sharing.........

You didn't even notice INRI? I thought that would be the most noticable update...along with the different lighting (the shadows). But whatever. You have given me lots of negative feedback on this image on different websites and I'm starting to get sick of it Chris...

its good to know that you atleast give an honest opinion about my crits on this work, but if you would take my crits into consideration i wouldnt have to say it over and over again.
remember i am giving my opinion as well
lets not argue about this on the forums :)

I knew Jesus was a scarecrow. I loved his work in the Wizard of Oz.

All blasphemy aside, I think the concept here is very good and has a great artistic feel.

I really like Photoshop version 1... Keep adding / adjusting the details, I think you're onto something.

Definitely has a very artistic feel to it. It really does look like it'd be a good CD-Cover picture for a band.

Version 1 is a bit bland, not enough color differences... Version 2 is better, IMO. It still has the same feel to it but it has more going on in the image and has some more colors.
