hello there everyone.... hope u all are doing fine... :).
here i bring a new speed painting challenge nr. 35. starting today and ends on the 27th of nov. thats sunday.
our topic this time is, "Speed". this give u all the freedom to paint anythng u can think of, provided, there is a sense of "speed", in there. for eg. a car, a bike, jet, an athlete/runner, u name it. or u can think of anything from your mind and paint it with a suggestion of Speed.

so lets start my friends, show speed to paint speed. im sure of a lot more fun this time... :D.

u can post till the 27th. after that voting starts... :)

all the best to everyone....

hi guys, thanks, and about the work, first i look for reference images, and i found drift cars, i draw the shape in ps with the bezier pen, and i start to put highlights and shadows, with the airbrush, color dodge, and color burn, i did this in separate layers for most control over the details, then i clone the cars and i did the shadows. i add some highlights with the star bright brush and i play with DOF with gaussian blur, this is for the cars, and the ground is a layer of black, i put noise then i use motion blur, and i play with brigthness and contrast, the walls is only gradiations and white color, and red colors, again with motion blur, for the back i use green for the trees and the grass brush, and a gradient of blue and white, then i flatten the image, and i put some noise not so much, i scale down the saturation, and i lighten the center of the image.

thats what i remember :D i hope you understand my english :P

Brownboot: Very comicish, The spiral smoke trail looks fine but the pose could be more agressive to give more speed feeling. Something like more superman.

alidanesh: Sport is a succesful topic about speed. That looks artistic but it gives a different feeling from speed to me. That paint gives a effort and exhaustion.

artecnl: Too "shinny". A good-looking car, but it has no originality.

-R3D-:entr1: Blur effects destroy the image, apply only the motion blur to the background and you´ll obtain a good eye-catching speed effect.

entr2: I say you the same for this one.

-R3D-
22-11-2005, 01:44 AM
RBL:: I only have one entry.. I done the motion blur on the plane to give the effect that the photographer was static and not following the plane when he took the picture.. Your entry is good, But why would a sign post be in the middle of the road?

artecnl
22-11-2005, 03:00 AM
rbl good one i like the idea , but your strokes need more detail, and the road texture makes the tire look like a really big tire, the barriers on the sides of the road, makes this effect on the tire too, you must make the barriers smaller in the back and bigger in the front, and agree with r3d the sign looks tiny among the tire, and in the middle.
out of that is nice, :D

alidanesh
22-11-2005, 10:40 AM
Rbl : nice work friend ..i like it...nice ambulace idea..and about the sport work that i did im agree with U that it has the feeling of effort an exhaustion but it has the speed feeling too..its common in all work..for example ur entry has this different meanings different for people..some one may say its accsident...and some one may say "the car on fire..and ....By the way tnx for comment..later ill try have the meaning more powerfull.;)

RBL
22-11-2005, 01:03 PM
-R3D-: Sorry i´ve confuse -R3D- with -t3d-. You´re right the sign is out of the perspective.

artecnl: Maybe I should have to put more time in the sketch to fix that volume problems.

Thanks 4 C&C.

I seen Very great works this week from all, but some of them really shake me! :xx: Like #29 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=405756&postcount=29) or #37 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=406723&postcount=37), thanks to all guys that create this awesome challenge.
As I say all works seems great and here is just my opinion about some of them:
...
...
...
#04 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=404162&postcount=4) ( LeSria ): really nice and creative idea, please say software used and time spend in future, anyway well done to idea.
...
#05 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=404174&postcount=5) (artecnl )nice but not comparable with your second entry, I think colors in this work isn’t alive! And cars aren’t match with background & seem like a photo collage.
...
#12 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=405192&postcount=12) (-t3d- ) : brilliant Idea, I seen your reference photo previously, I save a lot of these pictures in my com because the nice effect of them but using them as reference for speed topic really is creative.
...
#18 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=405446&postcount=18) ( Brownboot ) : nice one, just I think it seems better if you paint a perspective of far earth on the bg or no, it’s just my view that may be wrong.
...
#21 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=405463&postcount=21) (alidanesh ) : Really nice my friend, I like the way of colors and lights in the scene, anyway I think, you can do more.
...
#29 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=405756&postcount=29) (artecnl ) : oh my God! This is really golden work, nothing to say, I have just a lot of questions about your techniques, one is the way that you use to create white traced strokes back of the car, and …!, colors seems awesome ! And car lines seems strong, perspective, dimensions, character (driver), motion sense & all thing is great, congrats for this nice work friend, smell of a winner!
...
#32 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=405888&postcount=32) (-R3D- ) : nice man, nice.
...
#35 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=406326&postcount=35) (-t3d- ) : another fresh idea from you, well done man, you are a idea hunter.
...
#37 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=406723&postcount=37) ( RBL ) : oh, oh my God, my God !!! This thread filled to the brim by golden works, really nice man, congrats RBL, this is really qualified to win I think, every thing is nice, really nothing to say, just little mistake that saw R3D I not see that in first view, anyway I like this work, sees like a cinema film with this wide view, keep up brilliant works, please.
...
#43 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=406940&postcount=43) (araki ) : welcome to board.
...
#44 (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=407010&postcount=44) (betasoft) : nice and really good for 15 minutes, I think you can do greater works if you spend more time on these.

hi mim ..im happy to see ur work again..another nice work from u..i really like
the colors and the whole idea and the lines passing the sky...nice vise versa but compusition is strage to me..i think the right side is lighter than left maybe if u position ur "vise versa"text more to the right or adding some anothe object..:)

artecnl
23-11-2005, 12:25 AM
thanks mim :D, the strokes are done with the bezier pen, i draw four lines then i clone them, and put outer glow, jeje, :Di think that strokes look like toilet paper, but it was the best result i get,
he car is done by a lot of layers of paint highlights with dodge tool, shadows with burn tool,
and the driver is me :P i really want a corvette :) thanks a lot my friend

Good to see a different array of ideas from everone. :)

@ artecnl: Thanks mate im trying, only been working this program for 3 weeks, so have much to learn yet:)

@ Mim: Thanks for your comments. I like the vice versa bit. From where im sitting, i see a plane flying over water, with the trees reflecting in the water, then off goes the plane, right off the canvas. :) its good.

Hi people.

alidanesh: hi friend, thanks for comment and about weight I agree with you, this is just because I think that I can transfer a sense of instability of a wingover maneuver but seems that this is not true way to do that :dunno: , very thanx for useful comment.
artecnl: Thanks artecnl for explaining about strokes ( seems so nicer than toilet paper ! ), and about driver I think this is so creative idea to run this yourself ! :haha: anyway please run slower specially in swirls ! :dunno:
-t3d-: thanks for useful comments, although that’s not exactly my idea ( a water reflection ) but thanks to notice, after your comments I refer to vice versa again and find that as you say it’s a possible view of work, I mean reflection and this is a fault of work :( , I think the reason is for low resolution and a little blurry of trees + tinny lines in the sky that seems like waves on the sea, oh and more than everything this is the reason that I draw the scene vice versa and not from a normal view from a person on the ground in fact it is a shot from a camera that rotated with plane, at last note that the airplane is in a vice versa pose in the scene and you can see ground on top and sky at button, and plane is on a wingover maneuver.

#51: (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=407095&postcount=51) betasoft: I like this work much than previous, really nice man, specially form of space ship seems great
#52: (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showpost.php?p=407485&postcount=52) 3djunior: really nice, very nice, specially I like the way you use to paint wings, but I think it would be better if you work a little more on some parts like eyes, hire, dresses and the motion effect on left wing, any way whole work seems brilliant, congrats man you are an up runner in my view.

thanx, I post also another work after minutes, mim.Armand :max:

mim
25-11-2005, 01:22 AM
And this is my second; I did it by PS & my mouse in less than 2:30, it’s a view of a train that moves on the ground!
Oh, must say I start with a hand sketch that you can see on the final work also, although this is not complete or final :wall: anyway accept this from me :smug: , thanks, C&C always is welcome!
...
Be funny, mim.Armand :max:
