Ah, I see you're working on that film project with avatar :lurve: . Looks quite good so far, very nice definition over everything. I think that his cheek bones are a bit shallow, also that the temples go in a bit too high on his head(imo). Also, maybe try to make the skin a bit thinner and tighter around the eyeballs, and make sure that the socket is pretty well defined. Great work so far though, I'm looking forward to seeing the final project and him crawling across the deck.

Well actually we don't go so public with the models, and dlarve it's an exception since we didn't draw his atention earlier (our fault)! We will let dlarve updating this model since it's already too late to go back!
Oh, and a VEEERY AWESOME model you are doing dlarve! Great to have you with us!

Thank you to all of u...
I'll not use zbrush for this character, because there is no reason, just only bump should be fine. I agree that if i had used zbrush form the beginning i should have it ready now and better, but im a beginner at zbrush so im still learning, maybe on the next character...
Here's what ive done so far, its not to much...

07-12-2005, 03:41 PM
here's a nother one...i still dont know what to do with the neck...

Freespace-3DT

Simply amazing work, dlavre! Nice polyflow... great economy of polys... What can I say, I've got a lot to learn just from seeing your wires!
Turboracer
07-12-2005, 07:44 PM
Hmm, maybe make the neck sort of ripped out or rotting? Right now it looks a bit too fresh to be for someone dead. Great job so far though, I'm really enjoying this.

ZBrush may be a bit faster sometimes, but I definantely think your doing great how your doing it now. I agree a bump should do fine.
Really fantastic job. I love it.

good gods-- who needs mesh smooth? o.o
really awesome work, and the attention to detail really pays off in making it very expressive.
the mesh work where the mouth is sewn shut-- brilliant. ^_^

good gods-- who needs mesh smooth? o.o
My educated guess would be that the wire is an Isoline,a means of not crashing your pc while working with subdivision:) HOWEVER, this is fantastic work regardless;D

u can use Turbosmooth in max, and u wont have any problem moving the camera.
Man that is some great modeling dlarve. This project should be great!! Can't wait to see more from you guys.

yes u can rotate the camera using turbosmooth and doesnt matter how many polys are there. just its not the same when u try to move vertexs while having turbosmooth on.
Hey, thanks for the close up!
The one thing I find with turbo smooth verses like meshsmooth is, when you hide some of the poly and turn on turbosmooth then turn it off and unhide the polys turbosmooth glitches out and doesn't refresh the unhidden polys. otherwise I love it. The only thing I don't like is how you can't move verties while it is smoothed.

hey dlavre!! your work is great! and i have nothin to complain.
how you goin to do the rigg? bone or character studio....
Suburb work. Not sure if its just me but the hands look a bit small. Not sure could just be me. Anyone else see that? Really great work though.
Teyon
13-12-2005, 07:57 AM
No, you're right, the hands are small. The model is rockin' it though! Fix them hands and you're good to go.

18-12-2005, 01:58 AM
Thats insane attention to detail... incrediable modeling :D
Glottis
18-12-2005, 02:53 AM
The fact that you´re modelling such a detailed model in max rather than in Zbrush, is admirable! I don´t think I´ve ever seen such crazy details in a .max model (I could be wrong though)
so: wow!
but one thing that bothers me is the topology of the hands, the forearm is a bit like a plain cylinder, and the bycept doesn´t connect to the forearm naturally.
dlavre
18-12-2005, 01:37 PM
thanks all of u guys..
Here i changed a bit the hand and i closed his back.

a render of the mesh...
dlavre
18-12-2005, 01:44 PM
and some renders from the character...im using skylight for rendering and 2 lights.
Freespace-3DT
18-12-2005, 03:51 PM
Simply speechless. Rigging this would take some skill, but at least he's got no legs ( that's the hardest part for me, the pelvic area, when rigging ) ... dlavre, you're a one of a kind modeller. Congrats!
frostsnake
18-12-2005, 06:09 PM
Wow!
are you gonna texture him?
Master_Blaster
18-12-2005, 06:48 PM
The name of the thread is spelled wrong! Is Shards of Asgard!!
Wow Amazing! When does it grow it's hair like in the concept!!
Can I ask how you get those renders? The fogginess, are those post preduction effects in Photoshop? or do you do that with 3d max?
Baron
Ilkejav mk5
19-12-2005, 02:02 AM
that's specular bloom in 3dsmax, if i'm not mistaken. Simply go to the MaxScript tab on top, select run script, go in the maxplugin folder, and run the specular bloom script. then it's just a matter of adding the effect in the effect window... you ahve to ru the script everytime you start up max, or else the effect gets erased...
BTW dlavre... amazing work... can't wait to see that freak move.

Damn, dlavre, you just can't stop amazing us,can't you? ;P Awesome, just awesome! I wish I had such great skills  .
It maybe a bit late but here are some suggestions. You should make his shoulders and arms more muscular.I know he (or is it IT?) is a zombie but still, walking on two hands takes a lot of strenght you know. I'm not suggesting making them look "buff" but just add some extra edges so the muscles could be seen...or something like that...
Anyways,it's a great model and I can't wait for that little movie to come out!
