hi friends... :wave: hope all are going great... :).

here, i bring the 36th speed painting challenge for u. starting today and ends on the 18th of December, Sunday.
paint a Robot..any kind. i would personaly like something metallic with a rusty, looking texture, i think that would add some character in there. but u are free to paint in whatever way u like.

so lets start my friends, show your creation... :shout:.

u can post your Robot till the 18th of this month. after that, voting starts... :)

about this work:done mostly with watercolor and pencil then added highlight and contrast in PS..that was totally about 3 hours original size is A4..aha backgroud was made in Ps too....

hello alidanesh..this is good..i like it...just one thing..its about his shadow on the floor. its not according to the light source, that uve suggested on his body.
i like the way uve painted it... :).

There i was pulling my hair out trying to think of what to do, :crazy: flicked through google looking for a reference, there are so many to choose from, anyway came across a picture from my favorite film I,Robot. I know it isnt a full body painting, but i hope this is accepted, and that you like it. :wave:

Drawn with ballpoint pen and bg added in photoshop cs. bout 2hrs all up.
Saved as a jpeg low quality(2) and 40% of size, is there any other way to compress the file? cause it makes stuff look crap.

I think it looks great even with the compression.
You may already know this, but if you use photoshop's save for web feature - optimize to file size, it generally has better compression quality than trying to input a compression quality by hand.

hi guys, so this is my third one, i hope you like it, is about a robot being born, he is waking up to life, the red color in his torso means life or blood, is done first in paper with ballpen, then scanned, the robots color is done in painter 9 and the background in photoshop in about 4 hours and a half.

alidanesh - looks like the beginning of quite a nice portfolio there - you really have that concept style down.

RBL - you do really well with entire environments - very dramatic.

artecnl - oh man I was going to draw something like that (third entry) :smug: , but I think I can recycle my idea to make something different - nice execution.

ania - I used to draw thise during lectures - there is way more effort in those ballpoint drawing than people think - I agree with artecnl, but I would like to see that rendered (3D).

Undertow - TOOL rocks! Your drawing is very true their style (videos), also nice drama in your scene. (Have you ever had a chance to see TOOL live?)

artecnl #6: Speed and robot topics? ;P That convination of textures gives an extrange feeling. Define the focal points first.

VelenoSangue #9: The shading is nice, think at the begining of the painting a more agressive pose.

alidanesh #11: I like tha technic of mixed media.

-t3d- #14: Too close to the referenced one. It could be good with more mechanical parts.

Jordan #15: Classic scfi look.

AGMJ #19: It´s an start.

artecnl #20: Robots with human feelings it´s a succesfully resort, but you need more than a bunch of flowers and flying hearts to make the painting talk about that fully.

-t3d- #22: The main shading looks too plain, like an old game graphic.

Undertow #23: Old school underground look. I don´t catch the idea of that draw at first sight, It´s a kind of hibrid?

ania #27: The legs looks funny.

Diabolos #28: Now, an anime-like robot "mecha". Interesting head design, it reminds me evangelion nº 01. Keep it up, continue with the rest of the body.

cid228 #30: I think it took too much time but, anyway... I like the little mechanical parts of the head but not its shading. Borders should look too much, It´s better to use shadows than black borders.

BuffDady81 #31: Ha ha! and the american robot style "transformer" :evil: The perspective is very expressive and has a nostangia feeling too.

alidanesh #34: Very flexible bodyparts, it has a cartoonish look. Like a model sheet for an animated production.

artecnl #39:A funny one. It has 3 different perspectives, and it should be 1. Start with lines over a plain bg and define the focal points you´ll need. If not, the perspective will not look cool ;P

Milan #40: Alienoid robot. Thinner will look more scary.

and about your image, you need a lot of work in your paint to have a realistic feel (i don't see it :dunno: ), its very plain, i dont see much originality in this work. you can do it better.

Are you aloud to take parts of photos and use them in your paintings???? I see that RBL has used the pylon image in his. I can tell because the perspective and rotation of them does not change as they go off in the distance. and he's used the sky image or part of it. This is a painting competition, you should have to paint details in yourself with out copy and pasting bits from photos..!!

Hello to everyone, as i have said before such a variety of styles here, everyone a masterpiece in its own.
I see there are a lot of new faces joining, a big welcom to you all:) keep them coming in, and dont feel ashamed (ADMJ) they are good. we all start off small, then slowly work ourselves up in confidence.


RBL: Thank you for the compliment in saying its "too close to the reference", in this i tried to get it to look the same, but found trying to get the opacity of the head and body a lot harder than i thought it would be.
In my second i was trying to attain a metal look, which didnt come out to bad considering im still learning what this program has to offer.

This one was made in about 20 minutes, really quick (and simple) when ya know just what to do. Wanted to do some more small adjustements but skipped em for the gain of time instead ...
Unfortunatley the quality of the jpg isn´t what it should be, had to draw it down quite a bit to get it below 100k =/...

This one was made in about 2h 30min, very sloppy and the shading and colours could use a lookover ..but since it´s all about the time versus quality (if i got it right),
i found this to be good enough.

Maybe more of a cyborg than a robot ...(?)

hello RBL..when i first mentioned about the Rule No. 6 after someone mentioned that uve used pictures in your painting, it was not late. u couldve posted a new one at that time or a day after that. there was a lot of time.

u actually sent me a pm very late asking about your entry. instead of that i was expecting a painting from your side to be posted. it was very clear that uve used images and its not according to the rules. it was already very late when u sent me a pm asking me about your post wether it is acceptable or not.

i always try my best to be punctual and like to do things on time properly. i never want anything like this to happen.
