Checkout this new seamless texture website! ALL of the textures are available for free and there is a cheap premium subscription for people who need high-resolutions versions of the textures.

Nice stuff, I guess, but it doesn't seem too nice compared to what's out there already. There are some textures for free, but there is nothing available without filling out regestration. Furthermore, without a subscription, you can only access textures running around 500 x 332 resolution. Even if you had the subscription, you're only looking at a resolution of 600 x 400 or so. It's a little contradictive to the front page of the site that states that the mission statement of the place is to provide high res tilable textures to artists.
Hmph, I say. If you want good textures learn how to make seamless textures yourself. While I think it's nice to have another provider in this industry, I think people should learn to make textures themselves from a base set of maps (like those available from 3dtotal.com [cd] or from mayang.com [free]).
I see this is your first post here. Are you going to stick around? What kind of art do you do? Where're you from?

I used to do a lot of 3D with Caligari's trueSpace... I was part of a company that used to write plug-ins for their software... One of them by chance was called "The TextureBin tSx"... After that I started a free texture website called TotallySeamless... that site was completly for free and we were not able to keep it up and running at no cost.
95% of the textures on the site are over 2000 pixels wide... there are a handle full of textures that we have that in a lower resolution that we decided to put up there anyway.
Oh and we have to charge for the premium membership due to the amount of bandwidth it requires... with each texture alone being about a meg to 2 megs there is just too much bandwidth needed to offer thousands of those size textures for free...
I encourage people to check out the site... we will continue to update everyday with a bunch of new textures and hopefully it will grow into a great resource for everyone!

Ah, okay, I see. It took me a while, but I found where the high res textures are. They seem to be mixed together for the most part, and I must've gone to a part of the site where they are in much larger proportion.
This site looks really well put together, and I suppose it deserves more credit than I initially assigned it. You've put a lot of work into this, and I think as your collection expands you should start to see some business. :haha: Yay!
Good luck to you, and I'll keep an eye on that site now and then to consider membership.
Take care,
