I'm glad to see that you didn't just stick the texture onto a globe and call it finished. the extra atmosphere adds some power to the image, but it feels a little loose in terms of detail. While it may have been that that was part of your intention, the emptiness is not so with enough fullness to convince me that it's supposed to be that way.

Nice lighting, a little sharp and harsh on the globe, but delicate and delightfully volumetric in the atmosphere. If you attempt another surreal image like this in the future, I encourage you to use volumetric lighting similar to this again, but try to make the image tighter in it's details and subjects.

Your advice is sound, and it has already inspired me to start a second attempt.
This time I'll make something a bit more crowded!
