Wooo, been away for quite a bit now. Finally finally finally have some free time on my hands, so figured Id do something simple to pass some time. Nothing special, just a kitchen scene. No chamfering has been done yet, so all the sharp corners will be tooken care of eventually, and obviously no meshsmooth. first day working on it. 3dsmax 5 is the app being used. Hopefully I have time to finish this, though I doubt I will. We shall see.

finish the chamfer and add some good texture, and I would say the rest would be up to the lighting... no need for meshsmooth, except maybe on the faucett but thats it!!... looks very nice for a "simple" scene... wanna see simple look at mine lol

good luck on this one man, looking nice so far

yea, theres still quite a bit I have to make, a stove, microwave, part of a fridge, some light fixtures, stairs outside the glass door. thats all I can think that I have left to do right now. Then after I texture and all that jazz ill proabably throw some misc. items like dishsoap, dishes, etc...

Thanks for the C&C, and Happy 2k6 to you as well.

looking good so far. the big window looks strange though being right on top of the floor I don't think windows are ever done that way in houses. and dont' forget to model to scale its important for realism

all I had time for was the microwave for now. when I get home from practice, Ill proabably wip up the stove and other little things that need to be done. so for now heres some renders and a wire.

yea I agree the glass door seems a little odd, but thats actually the size it is in real life, I might make it a little more narrower just because of it not looking so porportioned. No updates right now, just got back from band practice. But in a couple hours ill possibly have the stove done, and a couple outlets and stairs, so it will be a big update hopefully.

hahah I said my next post would be a big update, I lied, I took the time to just chamfer the faucet and smooth it out, took a quick render of it, felt id show it to everyone before the next updatey.

nice one!!! the handles on the faucett look a little flat though.. maybe its the material, I found a great chrome setting online, if you use vray could be pretty usefull if you dont like that one

keep it up looking good

its not so much the material but the enviroment. I dont use vray, Im a brazil guy, well not now but once I get it installed again.

Not such a major huge update, mostly everything is modeled, theres just the handles for the door, maybe stairs or a fence for outside, something....the top part of the stove and maybe a coffee pot. So by tommorow I should, if I have enough time, be done with the modeling aspect. then the fun part of texturing which I suck so much at, but will try to do at least. Then I can finally finish my Ibanez that im modeling, been wanting too for awhile now....well now im just rambling...anyways heres a pic.

be carefull, accurate modeling will result in improved accuracy in the realism of the render. I suggest modeling the pieces of wood that make up these counters. snapping them together. It will save you time when texturing too. Also try checking the dimension/scale of the intrusions in the faces of the cabinets.

Thanks for the excellent tip there. I didnt think of really trying to get the full dimensions, but now that I think about it, I really should. So when I get home from practice Ill work on getting everything in more realistic dimensions. So Next picture update, will be more of a dimension update of everything scaled to what it should be.

And I didnt think about breaking the counter top up either. I will work on doing that as well, it would make more sense that way. and Plus for the cabinet doors I planned on doing that as well, but like I said not for the counter top, but that I shall. wouldnt take too long.

Again, thanks for the tips.

ok, I decided to give everything real world dimensions, to get a better scale, and feel for the scene. I havent done anything new except resizing, but figured Id share since I havent updated much since last time.

I have pieces broken up already but havent rendered that out yet.

hmm, it's cool but it isn't right, the illumination use some system to calculate it better(like Global Illumination n Final Gather in Mental Ray or LightTracer in scanline), for the marble texture i recomend u to see the program Corel Texture, u can make good textures in there(i can post an example if u wish).

yea, im just stuck using skyline right now. Im not so worried much about the renders right now, thats the last thing im gonna work on. Right now its about getting the textures made, layed out, put in the scene, see if they fit etc...Id have to say that the texture on the countertops actually looks alot better with the right lighting, I do have lightracer going on, with a couple omnis just to light the area up a bit for now.

And sure, please post the example, any help is greatly appreciated in the texture department because thats where I am very horrible at. lol

Well this the default settings(predefinitions that comes with program), i need to play a little bit more with this softwareXD. if i find a good texture ill post here.

wow that looks really cool. if you have any black/white/grey marble textures that would be awesome. does this program cost any money?

your scene is coming along nicely. the glass door seems a bit closer but still seems wide, enless you didn't change it yet :) also i would recommend moving it to the right some so it would be in a more correct placement for a door. the handles on the small closet doors look very big and when the glass door opens the handles would go right through it. you might also widen up the space inside the counters and cabinets it looks a little tight if you were actually going to do something in there.

i know these are details but like i said real world dimensions add alot to create a more realistic render in the end

Thanks for the crits, they are much appreciated. Yea, Ive been debating on the glass door position, and the size of the handles on the closet door. And now that it has been pointed out I will make corrections on them.

For the cabinet doors, they are actually spaced correctly to real life counters, I went down stairs and measured spaces and heights, etc....and scaled my scene down to real world dimensions. so I belive Ill keep those as is. Again thanks for the crits

sorry for the lack of updates, I had to stay off the comp for the week and do no modeling due to my bands first show, had to get prepaired for that.

Anyways, everything is basically modeled already, now Im at the process of texturing and I must say I cant find any decent textures to use. And creating textures based off of existing textures is becoming quite over bearing. I was wondering if anyone had a good wallpaper texture, a couple differnt wood textures, and had a tip on how to create a good paint texture for my doors?

I know that might be alot to ask, but I dont have much time and your help would be appreciated.
