I actually started this model ages ago - I worked on it off-and-on for a month whenever I had a spare hour or two, but then got all super-busy and it sat untouched for a long time.
Finally had some time last week to work on it some more and got a pretty basic rig on him today.
I still plan to tweak it some, and I intend to make him some huge FFesq sword or something and post him all nifty and such - heh.
C&C very welcome ^_^

model wise seems good, but texturing wise seems unconsistent, the face looks feminin, and the muscle texture doesnt seem to have any lightsource , also the arms look a bit wonky .. the main problem is texture, the rest is fine, so dont worry bout it ;)

Hi Athey,
nice model you have there, not sure i like it as much as the others i've seen from you. the texture looks like it needs a little more....errr.......something. hmm
i think mainly its the chest and face seem very washed out (even for an FF model) there is detail on the front of the texture but the muscles dont carry on round the side. (id say either less muscle on the front or more muscle on the side). cant really explain about the face i think its the cheeks look a but Puffy.....hmm.
anyway....its loads better than i could do right now, would be good to see him with a big meaty sword...heh.
you joining in on the new lowpoly challange? would be good to see what you could do ;0)

I dunno, Athey, that's three or four characters from you that are almost exactly the same. Same proportions, same clothing; don't you ever want to try something new? I've found that varying the things that I model has helped me break out of some bad habits and learn new things. I don't mean to be harsh, but I think you should try going in a different direction once in a while.
That aside, this is some pretty nice work. Good model construction, and I like the texture work on the pants/shoes. Some of the skin texture seems a little washed out, but that's the same problem that I've been having and I'm not sure how to fix it :lame: . Good job.

Seriously dude - Look: I've spent the last 5 months in crunch making 30 characters that look the same. But believe me - they don't look a damn thing like this. This is me trying to breath after being stuck making the stuff I do at work.
It may seem like all I ever work on is stuff in this style cuz it's all I post, but I haven't made a model in this style in nearly 4 or 5 months, but I've done dozens for work during that time.

maybe thats what you see, but some dont, i can see it thou ..the nose , hair style , face shape resembles the image of your avatar...but that doesnt mean its a bad thing, you are trying to do different, keep doing it !

Heh, sorry for the misjudgment then. As you said; all I see is what you post here. The majority of your threads on Threedy have characters that are of the same build and style. A little more variety on what you post here would be welcome, but if this is how you like to blow off steam after a long project then I won't tell you to change anything. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I hope you'll continue to show us your personal projects. :smug:

Well, the game came out today, so I guess it's OK to post some of my work from it now -
Here - enjoy the variety of my day-job.
These are a couple models I made for Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror for PSP, which was released today (Mar 14, 2006). These are each under 1,200 tris, and the textures are all 128x128s (but each character has several) The actual in-game models had much lower res textures. Our texture max was 64x64 4-bit color.

I'm not looking for any crit on these - they're long-long done and the game is shipped, so no point.

made a sword
If I can manage to find the time, I'll probably tweak the whole thing more. I want to fix the spec maps and try and get some better lighting or something...

Nice models! They look great, specially those last four. Hard to believe that SyphonFilter is still getting new games... The original is... how many years old?
