been working on it for a week and half, and stuff, and i did some texturing, i guess im getting into the whole 350z craze lol, ever since i saw that tut from Mr. Siregar! latest update is attached:
Looking verry good! Good job! I liekd the one with green on and the one with grey :). How did you do to make those textures? Sry for asking but i dont know much about texturing and was wondering if you can help with any tuts or hints.

woah im honored man, basically i didnt use unwrap, but what i did was take my side blueprint opened it up on photoshop, and kinda did the decal where i wanted it to be, made the bgcolor the car paint, and used a UVW map i used this tut to get the base feel i just didnt do the alpha map thing-> http://67.15.36.49/team/tutorials/decal/decal.asp
i use brazil btw
Thnx man! Youre going to work more to it right? Cant wait to see the result, i will be following this thread.

nice looking model so far, some of the renders are very good, but maybe you should try to finish the mode first and then make all the texturing, i would be easyer.

Tuss4: I have the same problem with patients, I always start texturing and rendering before the modeling is done. It makes a project take way longer than it should be since most of the renders from before the completion of the modeling are a waste.
Anyways the 350z's door is different that on your model. There is no metal over the glass. In other words when the door is opened there is not a metal frame around the glass.
It's hard to explain here is a picture http://www.lambodoors.biz/images/cars/Nissan/350Z%2003-05/nissan_03-05_-350z-5.jpg

02-05-2006, 05:39 AM
There is a car rigging tutorial on 3dkingdom.org. But it uses some odd media player to play the tut. Basically you just assign movements to certain pieces. Like you assign the wheels to move 30 degrees for every 30cm the chassis moves. I dont really know exactly how to do this, but im sure the tutorial will help.

Yeah you already mentioned that you used IK to rig it. And i never said that you used the method that I posted above. How do you rig with IK though, telling us that you just rigged it with IK isn't very helpful...
Edit: nice update, like the materials, looks clean.
Tuss4
03-05-2006, 04:50 AM
thanks, with Ik you just set the body as the parent of all then make the tire the child of the rim, rim of the brake disc, brake disc of caliper set the pivot points, and dummies, then the axes of rotation for the wheel, and yeah its done

Great model man! love the 350, and you've done it quite well ... obviosuly it's not finished but it's excellent so far :)
I was going to crit on the old model ... but the new one doesn't seem to need it :)
Just be careful with the rear tail lights ... looks like it might be getting a bit crowded with polys ... but other than that, can't wait to see the finish! cheers

started a seat, im modelling all over the place lol, this site is something generic, i didnt have any high resolution pic for one bucket seat in particular, so i had to like come up with this using pictures of existent seats, and my imagination:

here's an update on the seat sorry for the render wire but it still needs tweaking and is not at the stage where it can be smoothed:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/goku112/st003.jpg
i know, its random, but this stuff keeps me motivated, plus i really want to take this car as far as i can, and model an interior
Tuss4
15-04-2007, 12:42 AM
restarted the CAR SEAT not the car lol, i think my mistake was that i modelled the cushions in separate parst to make seams, what i am doing now is modelling the whole cushions then when its ready ill add all the seams. here is my progress:

The logo looks great, but totally unnecessary to modell it..only model the base of it and apply a bump map and you got the same effect
Robbert543
21-04-2007, 04:03 PM
bump map is possible, but modeling is more realistic.. ;)
headlights seem kinda empty, somehow..

did you get it from a tutorial?
because I found a tutorial which gives pretty much the same idea of creating that thread. :P
Tuss4
12-05-2007, 04:36 AM
yeah but with those tuts you end up having to weld a bunch of vertices, i did all that from one plane, using math, and than the bend modifier.
mBlond
12-05-2007, 02:25 PM
I think its easier to model one segment..then copy it..weld..copy the 2 segment..weld.. etc. But maybe its just my opinion

Wow, thanks for that. 4m30s to render...dang. You're using max, I'm using maya, but let me see if I have an understanding of it.
Created a tube (body of tire).
Detached a segment of 3 verts.
Hid Tube.
Used math to layout a flattened poly, half the width of the tire.
Mirrored and used bend edges to check for circumference (?)
Used a chamfer to layout parallel lines to edges.
Selected faces/edges and extruded center raised area.
Selected alternate faces and extruded for pattern.
Wedged outer verts of tread.
Selected verts along vertical line and moved to create zigzag pattern of tread.
Mirrored geometry.
Wrapped tread.
*Why was there the tread spread apart a full section?
Welded verts.
*Does the tread replace the outer radius of the tube?
Refined main tube shape.
Assigned Clay mat. (got to see if Maya has something similar.)
Mirrored Geo.
Smoothed.
Attached Tube and tread segments.
Assigned mat to tread.
Set render.
So it took you 35 minutes to build a tread that would probably take me 3 hours..lol. Anyway if i left something out or didn't understand part of what you were doing let me know. I'm going to use this on my W.I.P. Thanks again for your extra effort.
Tuss4
15-06-2007, 01:40 AM
well i dunno if maya has a symmetry modifier, but if it does, use it, that way you wont have to do as much work. The point of the tut, was to avoid any welding of vertices whatsoever. if you think about it, the tread doesnt have to replace the outerlayer, thats why i detached the polies as a clone.
katana
15-06-2007, 02:59 AM
So then you left the original geometry from the tube in place even though it was hidden by the tread?

did you actually model the headlights, or is it a texture?
because it looks like a texture because of the glaass material.

I like yer Z man. it's hard to give feedback, I don't see any bumps at all.
maybe just one; in the rear wheel arch, on the top, on the side of the door. it could also be because of the lights, so I'll wait for another render. ;)

Thanks, for the support dudes! The tire is going to be a bitch to model, I figure I am going to do the Yokohama Advan Neova tread. If I am crazy enough I will try and model the sidewall.

I really like what I'm seeing here. If I count correctly, you restarted this project 3 times. but I'm sure you nailed it spot on this time. Good job!

How are you modeling it? Are you using Splines or are you Poly Modeling.
It looks great, I gotta re-try car modeling soon, most of the cars that people make are just spectacular.

wow you guys actually paid attention to the old stuff! for gaps there are several ways to go about it. For the doors, I just modeled the complete side of the car, no seams. Then I used the cut tool to cut out the shape of the door, then I proceeded to clean the mesh, and keep it all as quads. to create the gaps though, i used the connect edges button and I slid the edges around to create the appropriate width, and I welded the necessary vertex. When that is done, you just delete the polygons in question and bam! you have just created a gap.
